Some of the shops & restaurants are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays, so I'll definitely be back, but the layout kind of reminds me of Colonial Williamsburg. In one section, they have shops & eateries below, and apartments above. I was told in the other section, they were transforming the apartments into Airbnb's, as if they don't have enough of them in Gatlinburg already. Anyway, they do have some cool shops with members of the Arts & Crafts Community, so I highly recommend making this one of your stops.
Most units were closed on the day we visited. However, the concept of an arts community where the artists live above their studios is a very interesting idea. The architecture was attractive and the place was very clean.
This is the perfect place if you looking for somewhere more private & queit. In my case I was & the price was good. I absolutely was impressed with how nice it was & this was very 1st ABNB stay. The bed is so comfortable, we slept like babies.. lol The coffee in the room great tasting as well, the room was just like the pics made it to be.. Will definitely be staying again & Highly recomend this place.
Pretty place and was looking forward to the shops, but nothing was open and we went on a day when everything was supposed to be open. Not sure what happened but that is a place I visit when I go yearly to Tennessee So was disappointed all the shops were closed
We really enjoy Split Rail Eats. It's really a shame that the owners of this whole complex of buildings have let the maintenance and cleanliness fall into disrepair and litter. The parking lot was littered with beer bottle caps, throw away cups, straws, paper, etc. Then there is the bridge which has been damaged since last summer or before and instead of repairing it the right way, they just layed loose boards on top. Really a shame.
Back in the day, this was probably a great place to visit. Shops were closed, and looks run down. Don't waste your time.
Great restraunt there, a store selling used 60s to 80s mid-century modern merchandise , a few other closed stores Sunday in Oct, 2021 and many empty stores. There is a Covered Bridge you enter through photo op. Looks like Covid did in the other stores. Apartments on upper floors.
The place looked fairly nice. It smelled like a cheap motel room that used to be a smoking room and they tried to air it out. The pillow cases were not changed and had drool and slobber on them. I found roaches in the place. They had people building a new place up the hill so there wasnt any sleeping in on vacation. By 7am they were banging and yelling so we had to adjust by going to bed early on vacation.
Only two stores were open hence two stars, the rest of the place was deserted and closed in the middle of the afternoon. I got a nice candle from the candle store and enjoyed pie & coffee at the Split Rail cafe.
Ok, so we've driven by lots of times. I think they have a farmer's market on the weekends. But there weren't a lot of shops. And a bunch were closed. I think I'd like it better if it were busier. It's positioned so that the stores all open to the courtyard space. However the highlight was meeting Bob! He owns Mane on Main! He is the former owner of our house, and such a cool person! It was the highlight of my day! I hope we get to be good friends, when we move to Tennessee. The bridge itself was beautiful. We also saw the one in Harisburg that day too.
