What a great dog park! Lots of local owners come here to enjoy letting dogs off leash to run. Lots of trails, creeks, open spaces for them to enjoy. Dog water fontains too. Easy access of I-64 and SR340. Recommend 7-10am for best experience Please clean up after your dog as the rest of us do!
I hadn't been there in a long time. I have memories of birthday parties and picnics there. It was good to see it is still very peaceful and beautiful. It is also a great dog park for my grandoggers. We took our grandson and it was a great place to teach him about nature and animals. We will definitely be going back as soon as possible.
Great park for a walk with the hound! Vast fields of off leash area. Trails through the woods, and a creek or two. People are, for the most part, friendly and responsible. There are always a few, though. The lower parking area has a shelter and water filling station for you and the hounds to get a cool drink. The park also hosts many events over the year. Mud runs, kite flying, dog events, just check the website for upcoming events. It's definitely one of our favorite parks for some fun and exercise with our four-legged family. Restrooms: One portable out house in the upper and lower parking areas. Dog-friendliness: It is an excellent off and on leash park. Picnic area: Lower parking area has a picnic shelter.
Lovely park to let your dogs stroll off leash. There are woodsy trails and open Meadows and one clean stream.
Really awesome off leash park! Well maintained, just wish people would clean up after their dogs better because I don't think there are any staff to get what others miss. Dog poop bags are provided so make sure you grab more than you need. I think this would also be great for bike riding and will try that next time but be warned, it would be a workout because it's nothing but hills.
Absolutely loved this gem of a park. There aren’t too many places I’ve found that allow dogs off leash aside from “small” fenced dog parks. This park is a dog’s paradise, and we had an absolute blast roaming the trails be aware, very muddy after all the snow melting and playing fetch in the huge open fields. Wow. And if it couldn’t get any better, upon leaving I stumbled across this lovely dying fire in the shelter that was left by the previous inhabitants. Thank you Waynesboro for this wonderful area! Worth traveling from Cville to visit!
The Pavillion, has plenty of firewood. The port-o-pot is SO AMAZING...and let's talk Disk Golf. yes!!!!! GREAT course, just remember...BEARS are active now. Be aware, do NOT SCARE!!
Great place to walk dogs or play disc golf! Nice trails and some open fields. Dogs are usually friendly.
This is a Leash Free Dog Park. The city has tried to market it as a general park but the dog owners of Waynesboro have had the last say. Thousands of dogs a week perhaps more grace this park with their presence. It is their land. In this day and age it is great to have a place to go to let your dog run free as they were always meant to do. It is their nature. I'm so glad I live nearby for my dogs sake. They are my babies, my children. They get to run and play with other dogs, it is how we socialize our dogs. It is their Netflix, their form of entertainment most days. I have lived all over this country and traveled to many more places. There is no dog park like this anywhere. It is the Greatest Leash Free Dog Park in Virginia possibly the east coast. It is 2 miles in circumference plus trails in the woods. No fences to keep dogs in because the dog park is so large. Many, many years ago this was a large farm. It is not really a park to go exercise, unless you like being chased by dogs. Dogs generally do not like to see people running, it excites them. Also not a park to bring the family, unfamilular dogs generally don't do well with children they do not know. I would say stay away if you do not have a dog or have a fear of dogs, you will be sorely out of place. If you are a dog owner though, you have found a dog paradise. It is Waynesboro, Virginia's only claim to fame if you ask me. It is the only thing that makes Waynesboro truely unique. We live here and if the city ever changes this park or develops it. We are done here. We truly enjoy this park. I go over to the park almost everyday and walk with my 2 dogs over beautiful rolling grass covered hills with a panoramic view of the mountains and through the nature trails. I walk for 2 hours and that is 6 miles for me and my dogs.
Great walking trails w disc golf course and happy free doggies
