Cramton Bowl

Description

Cramton Bowl is a 21,000-seat stadium located in Montgomery, Alabama. Cramton Bowl opened in 1922 as a baseball stadium and has been home to Major League Baseball spring training, and to minor league baseball. Today, however, its primary use is for American football. It is the host of the annual Camellia Bowl for the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, and of Montgomery's five high school squads. It was home to the Blue-Gray Football Classic, an all-star game usually played on Christmas Day, the Alabama State Hornets football team, and hosted the first ever football game played under the lights in the South.Stadium historyCramton Bowl is named for Fred J. Cramton, a local businessman who donated the land on which the stadium is built. After a conversation with friends about the need for a baseball stadium, Cramton donated his sanitary landfill to the city so a facility could be constructed there. The city held the land for a time and then returned it, stating that Cramton’s stadium idea was too big of a project for the city to undertake. Cramton then decided to take matters into his own hands; with the help of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Cramton raised $33,000 to build the sports venue.

Was there as a chaperone for a visiting marching band , restroom facilities were less than good , either the toilet did not flush or there was no toilet paper in the stalls in the ladies room. The security which were Montgomery police department was very rude just for asking questions. I thought as visitors to your city we could ask questions about how to navigate the stadium...but instead of answering the question I was asked if I wanted to be "banded" from the stadium which I'm fine with because this is my child senior year and we have no more games here in Montgomery the rest of the season. Another reason why I refuse to put any more of my visiting money into the city ....not even for my child to go to the local HBCU. .. I rather give A&M my money ....they are not so rude to their guests.
First of all the stadium is nasty dirty. Concession stands are nasty. fountain drink dispensers don't work. all they have to drink is power aid and water that's not that bad but sale more options the bathrooms are dirty nasty the place needs a deep cleaning. I gave it 3 stars because the field looks great.
The game was great. Retails Classic. The parking horrible.
The stadium was very nice looking. Traffic flowed smoothly for the football.
Attended the Georgia Southern bowl game here and had a fantastic time!! Even though I was up a little higher I was still able to see everything and really enjoyed the stadium. Hail Southern!!
Cramton Bowl was not ready for GASouthern! They don’t even deserve one star. First there was NOT enough parking. Lot E which was listed as free parking online was actually RESERVED parking only. RESERVED Sign was hand written in marker! Staff stated it hasn’t been free for six years and they can’t update their website! Ridiculous! After driving around forever and then walking over two miles to the gate, there was only ONE security check point for Will Call which also included Player Passes. The line was over a mile long. NOT EXAGGERATING either. No bottle water allowed, not even for medical reasons. You have to stand in another line for an hour just for water. Staff was friendly but only ran on two speeds SLOW & OFF! Arrived one hour early just to make it inside the stadium just before halftime! If we ever play here again… I’ll watch it on ESPN before visiting this stadium ever again.
Wish I could give it 0 stars. 45 minutes in line just to get in the game. Missed the opening possession. Ran out of beer. Not enough staff at gates and at concessions. Bathrooms are horrible and urinals in the ladies room? Weather was good though and so were the Southern fans.
Attended a college football game here, and the energy was awesome!
Terrible experience. Lines were ridiculous. Understaffed is an understatement. Bathrooms ridiculous. Line to get in took forever. Treacherous steps with no rails. Will never come to camelia bowl again. Also city was unprepared for thus event on Dec 27th!
Very nice stadium state of the art!!
