Create Art Studio provides opportunities for people to discover their creativity through open studio time, art projects and classes.
Create is an art studio operated by Skills to Succeed, a nonprofit organization, that provides opportunities for people to discover their creativity through open studio time, art projects and classes. We are dedicated to supporting people in exploring their artist identity and nurturing an artist community. Create classes are geared toward artists of all levels, looking to release their inner artist while developing their creative potential.
Artists will utilize basic materials to produce their own masterpieces in a safe and respectful environment. Art is for everyone: whether you want to try something out for the first time or if you have found a medium or technique you would like to explore further. For experienced artists, classes will encourage them to break out of established routines while loosening up and removing creative blocks allowing them to rejuvenate their craft while moving into deeper levels of expression.
Benefits: Art not only provides opportunities for relaxation and self-expression, but studies have also shown that art can stimulate imagination, strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking, develop team-building skills and help in respecting different viewpoints. Art can create conversation and build relationships.
Artists: Classes are open to the public and all are welcome. Skills to Succeed does specialize in meeting the unique needs of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, which allows for a diverse studio. Create classes appeal to a variety of age levels. Most classes are available for all ages, but some are designed just for kids or just for older teens and adults. If you have any questions about the appropriateness of a course for a certain age level, please let us know.
Classes: Create will offer classes and activities that can be selected according to a person’s artistic interest. Classes will be offered at a variety of times (day, evening, weekends) to meet a variety of interests (different modalities, projects and age groups). Contact us for additional information regarding group rates or special activities you would like to have offered. We are happy to discuss open studio time for artists desiring to work individually or in small groups on pieces. Learn more about our class schedule.
We recommend that you preregister for classes, as they could fill quickly. Check out the latest schedule posted at the studio and on our website which also contains pictures of some of our projects. Bring your sense of humor and an open mind. Be prepared to have a great time!
Location: Come check out our new location, located at 151st & Ridgeview in Olathe. We are on the southeast corner behind Walgreens and next to Salon Allure.
