Create Space Buffalo is a community art therapy studio established by two licensed art therapists. CSB is a place for people to pause, create, & grow.
Create Space Buffalo was established by two licensed art therapists (Anna Schwartz, ATR, LCAT and Katie Mullaney, ATR-BC, LCAT) who recognized a need in the Western New York area for more opportunities to practice art therapy on an outpatient basis, particularly in a group setting.
When life gets hectic, often the first thing that goes is our time spent taking care of ourselves. At Create Space Buffalo, we believe that art therapy can be one of many forms of self care individuals can learn to use in order to create more space in their lives.
Art Therapy is a mental health profession in which licensed or credentialed art therapists guide clients in the use of art materials to express themselves, similar to how clients use speech to explore and express their emotions in talk therapy. At the end of a group or individual session often there is an opportunity for the client(s) and art therapist to process what was created and how it relates to what the client(s) are experiencing. This helps to decrease stress, increase insight, and develop an ability to communicate emotions non-verbally.
