The museum was a fun addition to our trip. We’ve never been before to Colorado and wanted an old town to explore! Cripple Creek did not disappoint!
Loved it. I highly suggest to anyone, even locals, to check it out. Affordable and so much to learn. The woman attendant at the entrance was very friendlymakes you feel welcome and like an old friend and she was full of information about her museum's artifacts and local history. She made the tour fun and interesting.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
The Cripple Creek Historical Museum is an absolute must-visit for anyone with an interest in history. It is a place where the past comes alive, and the stories of a bygone era resonate with visitors. We really enjoyed the scavenger question/answer hunt. As a former Mountain Bell employee, I loved see the old switchboard and the old telephones. We even saw a ghost on the third floor! The gem panning was too much fun, even though it was cold, it was worth it to find those colorful gems in the brown rocks. And we left with a bag of colorful gems we collected. Thank you, Bill, for your knowledge, friendliness, and unwavering commitment to making my visit an exceptional one. You are an asset to the Cripple Creek Historical Museum, and your passion for history is truly inspiring!

This is a fabulous museum, consisting of the Midland Terminal Railway Depot, the Colorado Trading and Transfer, the Assay Office, as well as 2 Miner's Cabins. You can really take as long as you want to your all the buildings and the grounds, which are all grouped together within about a one square block area. Wife and I just loved the place. It was a bit on the quiet side, so we felt like we weren't rushed, and employees explained things as we went along. For instance, I didn't know prior who Ralph Carr was, and how important he was to the area Cripple Creek and it's developement. Yep, there are restrooms on site, and the were even clean! I know you get tired or hearing me speak of restrooms in my reviews, but travelers find this an important issue!
This experience was worth every penny! Not a cheap tourist trap. The whole exhibit was very well done. This is simply a must-see during your visit to Cripple Creek. The train ride looked like a lot of fun.
5 years ago my family went to this place and it sparked my interest in the paranormal. my sister was definetley communicating with something in what I remember to be an old repurposed child's bedroom. it was chilling to say the least. we had a long conversation with the very patient and nice lady at the front desk on what or who we were talking to. The lady shared some of her own ghost encounters she's had while working there and showed us some of the spots. my family planned to go to the notoriously haunted jail after this museum but we didn't go because we already had enough spooks for the day . overall very cool and interesting place to go while in cripple creek and great staff
This museum was way more interesting than I expected it to be. They have a ton of really cool historical artifacts, and the museum does a great job of showing what daily life was like for people during the heyday of Cripple Creek. The front desk person was really nice too.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
