I love hiking here! Since I'm new to hiking, it's been a bit confusing on the trails. I was a bit ambitious and wanted to get to a trail that was pretty far out. I got there, but it took so long that I had to speed walk to make it back to my car before the park closed. The trails at this park are very wall maintained. There are plenty of people out there so that you won't be alone for long periods of time. Hiking here helps clear my mind, and seeing the Eagles by the dam is amazing! Playground: Multiple playgrounds Restrooms: Port a John's in certain areas. Dog-friendliness: Lots of dogs and it's a bonus that people actually clean up after their pets!!
Beautiful park to appreciate God's creation. Nice trails, streams, picnic spots. Quiet and not over crowded. Restrooms: Porta Potties for rest rooms. Relatively clean. Picnic area: Grassy and shady
Easy to follow trails... difficulty ranges vary, so something for everyone. Completely beautiful scenery. LOVE this place.
My GF and I love the park and the trails. Our first walk on the upper Green Trail was very challenging because tree markings are confusing at times and too far between. Signage identifying the mid figure-8 crossover trail location and signage for the direction and guidance to the Red Trail would be very helpful. We found the trail easy to access but complicated and confusing to exit. We were there for a long time trying to figure out our way back to the Nature Center area.
I always enjoy visiting this beautiful and amazing park, it makes me happy and relaxed, the surrounding greenery and gorgeous view spreads superb positive energy.
Loved it here ! So well maintained and perfect to watch butterflies gliding freely in the wilderness.
A magical place! The trails are well labeled and maintained. The stream is clean. There is a nature center with friendly, knowledgeable volunteers. Chickens and turkeys outside the nature center, as well as picnic tables and a little free library. There’s also an outdoor play area for kids to use their imagination. The kids area could be improved upon with expanding and refilling the sandbox, as it’s a huge hit for the kids but tends to be overcrowded and down to the dirt. There are meadows and frog ponds and easy flat trails along the stream, as well as more challenging trails that connect with loch Raven trails.
Got here early and saw a fox run across the path and an indigo bunting. Great variety of trails. Make sure you take a picture of the trail map. The trails aren't all closed loops, although signs are easy to understand.
In my opinion, this is the single best place for birding in the Baltimore area. Every place has some specialties that others don’t, but Cromwell has a wide variety of residents that are not necessarily easy to find in a single area elsewhere. Add in the diversity of migrants, both spring and fall, and you’ve got a location that deserves frequent visits. Combine this with the Loch Raven picnic loop or the furnace trail, to pick up waterfowl, and you have a terrific outing.
Lots of great trails with different levels of difficulty. So pretty in there. My family loves hiking here! Cool Lime Kilns!
