Mission: "Where Care and Community Intersect"
Licensed in the state of Michigan, Crosaires, "where care and community intersect" has created a solid mission and vision in which we will continuously grow and sustain a culture of well-being rich in meaning and purpose through the assistance and supervision of one's medical needs as well as the development of individual and community relationships all while honoring old age.
At Crosaires we believe an elder is a person who is still growing, still a learner, still with potential and whose life continues to have within it promise for, and connection to the future. We believe and elder is still in pursuit of joy, happiness and pleasure, and her and his birthright to these remains intact. Moreover, we believe an elder deserves respect and honor and whose work it is to synthesize wisdom from long life experiences and formulate this into a legacy for future generations. (Barry Barken-Founder The Live Oak Institute).
At Crosaires we also believe it is not as important to know what disease a person has as to know what person the disease has. Therefore, at Crosaires, we place the development of and sustainability of meaningful relationships at the pinnacle of everything we do and as a result tailored, purposeful life experiences continuously are created.
As far back as one can recollect, our lives have intersected with "Crosaires", Gaelic for crossroads, while some experiences had us making life altering decisions that were joyous in nature; others were rooted in pain and sadness. Yet through the years, it has been these crossroads, and all of life's powerful experiences that have molded us into the person we are today. Many stories were shared at the crossroads of our lives we are ready to share our story, and in time, hope to learn yours as well.
As the owner and administrator of Crosaires, Todd Walter has more than 18 years experience in serving older adults and viewed by others as a leader in progressive eldercare advocacy projects in the state of Michigan and around the country. With Todd's experience, personal vision and mission he leads a team of committed individuals committed to providing quality, person directed care in a safe, highly supportive and dignified culture where elders continue to grow thus lead meaningful, productive lives.
In order to create a true "home" not "homelike" environment, Crosaires will consistently "cast" each elder/resident in the lead actors role while everyone else including staff and other medical personnel playing the role of the supporting cast. By doing so the mission and vision of Crosaires will be achieved through a person directed six step approach including;
1. A philosophical shift from care and protection of the body to support of people
obtaining lives of personal satisfaction.
2. The creation of individualized living spaces.
3. The empowerment of care partners as individual elder/resident advocates.
4. Respect for each person's unique lifelong patterns/preferences and
individualized needs.
5. The opportunity for each person to experience growth, development and a
sense of contribution; and
6. Continued connection to the greater community.
