Crossroads University

About

Passing down the root, one course at a time.

Description

Crossroads University was developed for the purpose of sharing the ancient wisdom and cultural traditions that have supported indigenous people for thousands of years. Specifically, we are dedicated to the preservation of indigenous healing systems, ethnobotany, folk magic and folk healing traditions found in the Southern United States.

The relationship between Africans Americans and Native Americans is a unique one. Initially introduced to each other in the chains of slavery, significant sharing of information occurred and an enriched melding of healing, religious and spiritual practices occurred in what is now referred to as the Southern rootworking tradition. In a day and age where people are feeling less in control of their lives than ever, more and more people are turning to African and Indigenous cultural traditions for healing and empowerment.

Mission

Crossroads University is dedicated to the preservation of indigenous magical and spiritual technologies and healing systems of the American South.

Products

We offer individual courses focused on Southern folk magic and spiritual technologies and healing systems and a 2 - 3 year intensive program. Upon completion of our year intensive program, students are eligible for the Certifiication in Professional Rootwork (CPR) credential. This credential is only awarded to students who demonstrate proficiency by completing the entire curriculum, 120 face to face hours of special training and passing an intensive final exam.

The C.P.R. credential is designed to reward those individuals who have dedicated their lives to the study of indigenous magickal and spiritual technologies characteristic of the American south. It is an asset to those who wish to go into business for themselves, for those who wish to teach and carry on the transmission of indigenous sacred knowledge, and for those who wish to be recognized as having studied on a formal basis with notable elders in the Southern rootwork and Hoodoo traditions.
