Staff is very friendly and the grounds are very relaxing. Many choices for how loved ones are taken care of. This is how my parents ashes are kept.
My brother was buried there in 1981 and my parents bought 2 more plots for themselves. Beautiful cemetery then!! Has changed hands a few times since then, each owner a little worse each time. Took 2 years of complaining and finally threatened to hire an attorney to get my dad's vase fixed. We live 2 hours away so we place plastic flowers in the vases at the beginning of summer. We want them left on all summer but this year they have been thrown away 3 different times. If they are my only option when I die, just stick me on the side of the road in a hefty bag.
I'm am beyond hurt and upset, this is not the first or I'm sure the last time that I will have this problem, my family's plots are I the very back close to the tree line , the lawn crew has more then once just completely mowed over decorations they are not seasonal and solar lights. It'd mind blowing to me that they mow over everything yet can't get the headstone clear.
My father and grandparents are buried here. Initially a very quiet and beautiful cemetery, the surrounding area has become heavy industrialized. Lots of truck traffic etc. The cemetery came under new management a few years ago and the change was dramatic; care of the grounds has become quite poor. Sad to see it change. I often have to trim grass that has grown completely over the headstones, which have sunken into the ground. The chapel and front wall are very distinctive with a very old English look and feel, you'd think they were there for centuries. The new owners build a very large mausoleum with total disregard to how it fit into the existing look and feel of the cemetery. Think Florida motel type construction materials. Sort of says it all, to me.
I was shocked to see the poor reviews about Crown Hill. I had never experienced anything but lovely grounds. However I was there today to visit the grave of my daughter in baby landAnd I was very disappointed to see how the grave sites left. Everything was overgrown and the grass was so long it was hard to even walk in it. I don’t know what has happened to the maintenance of the grounds but it certainly has changed in the past few years.
We held a service here for my grandfather and the employees followed us around and watched us to make sure we were not spreading his ashes. Through the whole service he stood next to his car and watched us as conspicuously as possible. When we asked him to at least watch from behind us so that he wasn't in our view the entire time he refused. I have never in my life been treated with less compassion, let alone from a place that should know better. Shame on this place.
I attended a burial for my aunt and Shelley was so great helping us finalize everything and Staying with us outside in the cold for an hour as we said our final goodbyes. She did great job make sure everything was perfect!
I just stopped my mother-in-law’s site. It’s been 4yrs since last visit, little confused to find her place. Went to office to help, so impressed! She told me to follow, I drove to follow her car. She guided all the way till my mother-in-law’s spot and dig out flower vase too. Thank you Shelly!
We ordered a Bench for my Grandma in Aug.2016 only to have many people that worked there mess it up. It took over a year to even get the bench and then the vases were installed in Aug. 2018. The management assured us of a refund because the girl who did the order totally dropped the ball on the entire purchase. Before paying for something here make sure you stay up on all the details so you do not have to fight for your Loved one!
Absolutely horrible place. My mother passed away in April 2016 and her funeral was prepaid for. Well no one notified me her Son there was $50 left on the so called prepaid account and we are now in January 2017 and they have not put her name on the square in the mausoleum where her ashes are. Finally when I got someone to own up to the mistake they said its because my mother who passed away owed a lousy $50 on the account. They are a disrespectful business but one thing they will do in hound you with marketing to buy stuff from them the second you lay to rest your loved one. Stay away from this place.
