I have been going to this cemetery for family burials since 1968. It is always well kept and peaceful. The people who are complaining need to recognize that it is costly to care for cemeteries with above ground headstones. Many cemeteries are limiting new markers to low flat ones that can be mowed over. Also, many cemeteries are losing revenue, and some are going out of business, because many people are choosing to be cremated because it is much cheaper.
I will be decorating my grandson, Grandma and other graves as usual this year. They are laid to rest on the north side of the cemetery. If it is not mowed, as usual, I will be doing my own mowing and weed eating this year. I am tired of the lack of respect and care of the north side graves. There is NO excuse that can be given to me for this. If it not done this year, I will apply for the damn job myself.
The cemetery is such a beautiful place with lots of wonderful tradition and it's a shame that Doug and the current administration have decided to change their mission statement. In a time of grief the feelings of the families and the needs of the families should really come first. The current mission statement does not appear to be such. I hate to see such a beautiful place fade away to a point where the families needs and circumstances are the last priority. I would honestly suggest to you to change your mission statement to one that includes care love, and respect for the family's needs during their time of grief no matter who those people might be. I think that it's pretty pathetic that you can't plant anything to honor your loved ones and contribute to the environment because it makes it a "hassle" to mow around, how insensitive. I remember the good old days when it looked so lovely and they respected family's wishes. These days they can barely keep it mowed let alone trimmed. Sad.
Behavior by an employee, graveside, was horrendous. They refuse to do anything about it. Despicable!!
beautiful cemetary grounds, famous people's graves to visit
