I love that this gym is open 24/7! I was a member at Planet Fitness, and they closed at 10 most nights. Plus, I got a t-shirt ! My daughter and I both got memberships. Now I'm just waiting for my son to turn 13 in a week and a half so we can bring him as our guest. Oh, and the hydro massage beds are down right amazing! Finally, my favorite amenity is the tanning service!
While the gym cost is low and yes 24/7 so you can train pretty much whenever. The issue I see is: Equipment down for long periods of time There is not enough equipment for those who focus on the big 3 lifts The benches by the free weights always seem halfway fixed. That being said, you may sit down and the seat will move, or they are not fully bolted to the floor Staff is kinda solid beside one of their managers, I think. She is rude and stuck up, so be mindful when around her. Multiple times, she has cut people off in mid conversation with the staff. No mannerisms what so ever. Most of the time, she is gone or hiding in the office Bathrooms are way too small for the size of the gym and how many people come in during the morning From what I've seen, the training team is more focused on beginners, which is great.
I’ve felt uncomfortable in this environment two times I’ve gone. The facility is always over crowded even at 5am. Sanitizing each station after using isn’t enforced at all. The fees are RIDICULOUS, the advertisement is always big & bold but, the cancellation fees hidden & are more than the joining fee. I left messages for a manager to call me he/she never called I even sent an email to the number in the reviews below. I never got a reply. Communication doesn’t exist unless it’s about them getting MORE MONEY!!! I’ve checked in twice in 7 months and paid well over $150 in fees. I’ve requested to cancel membership that I basically haven't used and was told I’d have to pay another $75 this is crazy. Why force someone to keep a membership they aren’t using!!! The staffing seem to be clueless every question I had was followed by a let me ask, I’m not sure, I’m new, I don’t know, this shows this establishment is awful. No thought was put into anything they do other than to scheme people out of their money. I hope my review HELPS deter others from joining & they will find some where else to work out at.
Very, very small location but it's thankfully never busy. They have a mix of older and newer machines but I honestly like the older machines more even though I've seen a few broken down. They just have easier controls than the newer ones. The massage machines are not private or behind any wall. I never see anyone use them and I can imagine why; The lack of privacy is very off putting. Looks like only two of them here so should be easy to just put up dividers around them. The bathrooms are nasty!!! Stalls closed covered in towels. No paper towels to use, just a single blower. Their showers aren't very private, either, as their vanity is RIGHT in front. Those crystal style doors aren't that private. This location really needs stalls instead. Again, only two here and you'd think there'd be a better remodel. The locker space is a waste. Never seen more than 6 to 8 people at once here. They could easily cut back and use the space for shower privacy. The rooms for the classes are also small but well maintained so I'll definitely give them that. Looks like only two rooms but never seem busy and there's not many classes here. I pay for all locations and I think it's fair. But this location I would definitely only do the 9.99 for. Not worth the extra here. And there's no way I feel like I can shower and get ready after my workout at this location due to lack of privacy and how gross the bathrooms are. But it's not as busy as some locations which is great. Even peak hours, almost half the gym is still available. Some of these locations around the US you're waiting on machines. Definitely not here.
I wasn’t going to post negatively, but one of the reviews actually voiced something I’ve been wanting to speak on for a while. In regards to “Jay R” review about the loud younger guys? They are very loud and rude. For whatever reason, staff overlooks them. This is an all the time thing with them, and it really kills the entire workout. I think they act that way just to try and intimidate people. Then I was outside on my motorcycle getting ready to leave and they walked out being loud of course and yelled at me “don’t hit any clibbins old man, you have’ta’layerdown!” Then they laughed and made more rude remarks. I told them about them peeling out and leaving marks in the parking lot and told them at least my hog doesn’t do all that and they need to have some manners! Also mentioned that when I was a young lifter the only peeling out we did in parking lots was post workout bananas and running home from the gym, not using our fancy cars!!! The one that appears to be “the leader” laughed and said “old man they may stop us but they’ll never stop the cobras” and then they peeled out of there. I would think management or some employee would handle this, but they don’t seem to care about the “older” lifters. 1 star man
I lost my leg due to a horrible accident back in Sept 2020. I’m happy to say that I have recovered nicely on my prosthetic which is above the knee. I would just like to commend the young staff you have working there. These guys always seem to be smiling and they obviously love doing what they do. But further than that, whenever I walk in on my prosthetic or take it off to do a specific machine, I never get stares or whatever. These youngsters treat me as if I have 2 natural legs and that speaks volumes for my confidence in todays young people. In a time where judgement is everywhere, I can honestly say that these kids really help promote and endorse that motto “judgement free..” So I just had to come on here and tell everyone at Crunch Fitness in Hattiesburg, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is because of you guys that me and my wife will not go anywhere else
I was a member of Crunch fitness during my time living in Hattiesburg, MS 2014-2018. As far as amenities are concerned, they are on par with Planet Fitness. My source of frustration came, when, checking my monthly balance having moved from Hattiesburg, I noted that I had been billed 15$ / monthly since 2018. Imagine my concern noting that 675$ had been pilfered from my account with my not having stepped foot in their premises since 2018. Having been made aware of this, I called as soon as I found out and was told I had to physically be present to cancel. I live in New Orleans now for training and am working a tedious schedule amounting to roughly 80 hours weekly- making travel technically difficult. I spoke with numerous other gym members who had similarly been conned out of their money and was told it is possible to ask for cancellation over the phone if you are physically unable to do so. When I called earlier in 2022, I was told a manager was not able to assist me in canceling over the phone at that time and to await a call back- this did not happen. I called again and was told this policy had not changed and that no exceptions were made. As far as what I was told, the only two ways to cancel are in person or via writing snail mail. I cannot imagine a single reason why a gym operating in 2023 could have access to a website and over 400 locations yet not have a “docusign” or option to cancel over the phone. I was ensured that even after my debit card had no longer been active not to worry, that they were still withdrawing from my checking account. There is simply no reason not to allow this other than to scam your customers out of their cash. I value my time, I value my money. It is clear that Crunch fitness does not value either of these things and for that reason I will never sign an agreement with them or any of their subsidiaries and urge you to avoid doing similar. This is a divorce you cannot annul. If you are expecting them to change this one sided relationship, look no further than the number of reviews that testify to this particular complaint and note that this policy still exists despite it being addressed and responded to by the management. Ask yourself, what incentive would they have for canceling your membership other than customer service? I don’t like ranting, and I offer a suggestion: on your website, allow customers the option of opting out no physical, no snail mail. A subtle art of customer service is: if you are asking someone for something, make it as EASY for them as possible. If you are looking for a gym to workout and are not married to the idea that you will be living in the same place forever, I encourage you to look for better.
In town for a few days. The gym is clean, has a super friendly staff, all the equipment I need and then some. I will be back. Thanks Crunch. -Matt
Equipment layout is awful feels super cramped, no space to do anything without feeling like you’re in someone’s way. AC feels like it barely works too. the equipment does not get much maintenance either. Take notes from the Petal crunch
A convenient location and 24-hour access except holidays with good equipment. It's kept fairly clean and the weights are usually properly stored. My major complaint with One80 is the absurd restrictions on which exercises may be performed. If this is a gym designed for "everyone in mind", wouldn't that also include folks who like doing one of the most basic exercises in weightlifting? I get it. You don't want some people to feel intimidated. However, these weird rules seem arbitrary and unfounded. Good thing it's only $10 a month.
