This restaurant might not look like it’s going to be authentic, but you will be pleasantly impressed! Very good service when we had lunch here there was only one waitress, but she was very friendly and served us our food fast and efficient the food is very very authentic northern Chinese cuisine! Please give it a try, very dish in the menu will be good, non of that fusion North American Chinese stuff!
This place is under new ownership and the food and style has changed a bit. The meat skewers were decent and the spicy fish is not bad either. Their best dish is probably the deep fried chicken racks. The seasoning and sauce they use on it is amazing! Of it wasn't for the chicken racks, this place would be a 3/5.
Since my last reporting, the restaurant has changed chef and ownership. It is still Chinese but no longer Shanghai my beloved dumplings *sob*!, it now specializes in kebabs. It also has fried milk which while interesting texturally needs chocolate sauce or something with more flavour than the condensed milk they provide. ......... Easy jaunt from Metrotown. A family style restaurant with no airs but good Shanghai style food for a reasonable price. The best fried dumplings guotie in the GVRD. Tiny parking lot shared with 3 other restaurants and a convenience store that all have set spots reserved for their customers so it can get annoying during peak lunch hours, but on weekends and evenings you can park in the local high school's parking lot half a block away.
Super authentic Northern Chinese food! So tasty and speedy service. I'm surprised it's not busy all the time. I hope this place gets busier because they deserve it, but I'm glad not to line up too, haha! Totally recommended and will gladly come again.
Don’t eat the buffet...... Server was awesome but the food was so aweful I feel sick just thinking about it. I also feel sick thinking about the $15 I’ll never get back. On top of that, google should have a 0 star option because this place needs it. If you like meat in your sweet and sour pork, don’t go here. If you like your chow mein cooked, don’t go here. If you can eat an incredible amount of grease and msg you can survive this meal, but I would still suggest you don’t go here. You’ve been warned
Below average. I used to come here when I'm too tired or lazy to cook. After a few times I didn't wanna come here anymore. The place doesn't seem too clean or inviting. The tables are just there. It looks really odd. They stopped taking visa I think and for someone who likes to take advantage of collecting points I would rather go to another restaurant that either takes visa or the food is much better. No.1 beef noodle house next door are cash only but I go there often cuz their food and service are much better
Lamb with green union dish is delicious with rice. I used to come here a lot but food became unexceptional. its also a little over priced for the quality. but if you're hungry... good points: they serve beer/alcohol and take credit/debit cards where many Chinese places dont
we ordered 5 dishes and two of them are bad, one is super salty and MSG-y, the other is like that too. In the end, the waiter demanded that we give 10% tip, when we were about 1 dollar short of that. Not coming back.
Didn't even get a chance to taste the food. I ordered online through SkipTheDishes and paid by credit card, only to have my order immediately cancelled. SkipTheDishes called and told me the restaurant was too busy to fill my order. Pretty lame. I got a credit through SkipTheDishes plus $5 but not impressed with the restaurant. If you can't do it, don't be on the website.
A not so well known restaurant but the food is extremely authentic. If you want a taste of northern Chinese food, this is the place to go to. Born and raised in Beijing, this place reminds me of home.
