The Kung Fu Club teaches Chinese martial arts to CSUF and the public. We emphasize self-defense, discipline, and Asian philosophy in a safe yet fun class.
The Kung Fu Club teaches a Southern Shaolin style called Lai Chung Chuan Fa. It merges elements from Hung Gar, Choy Li Fut, and several other styles. Our emphasis is on three important areas: practical self-defense; traditional Chinese forms; and personal improvement.
Founded in 1971, the CSUF Kung Fu Club is one of the oldest martial arts organizations on campus. For decades our style was simply called "Kung Fu," because martial arts weren't mainstream back then and because it was made up of several kung fu systems. More recently, the senior instructors named our style Lai Chung Chuan Fa as a tribute to our late founder, Master Ted Lai. The name means "Ted Lai's Way of Fighting."
We are a not-for-profit group and welcome members of the public.
