Our Mission
Enhancing health care in Cumberland County by supporting new and improved services, programs, equipment and facilities.
The Foundation manages a number of charitable funds. The General Fund is the most flexible allowing funds to be directed where they are most needed. With the other funds, donations are restricted to use in the areas described. All are worthy of your support and all are important to patients, the hospital, its staff, volunteers and to our community.
General Fund
This is the most flexible of all of the Foundation’s charitable funds. It provides support where it is most needed, when it is most needed.
Clara Bacon Bursary Fund
Provides bursaries to assist staff at the hospital who are enrolling in educational or skills-training programs in order to obtain a higher level of achievement in the healthcare field.
Cumberland Cancer Assistance Fund
Provides a helping hand for Cumberland County residents experiencing financial difficulty while fighting cancer. Charitable assistance for patients in need includes gas cards for travel to appointments, nutritional supplements, and other items and services. For more information contact the Cancer Patient Navigator at 902-667-6424. No referral is required.
Cumberland Healthcare Careers Bursary
Assists in reducing current and future shortages of skilled healthcare staff within Cumberland County’s healthcare facilities. Successful candidates receive $5,000 per year of study and must sign a return for service agreement. For more information call 902-661-7129 or email [email protected].
Equipment Fund
Provides funding for new and replacement equipment not otherwise funded by government. Giving the staff at the CRHCC the best tools enhances outcomes and is important in the retention and recruitment of highly skilled professionals.
Hospital & Healthcare Volunteers Fund
Allows the Foundation to continue to support a countywide hospital and healthcare volunteer program.
Mental Health & Addictions Fund
Supports programming and client activities, for all ages, provided through Cumberland Mental Health and Addictions.
Mental Health Working Together Fund
Working Together offers community rehabilitation of persons with disabling psychiatric illnesses. The philosophy is that given adequate time and a restorative environment, those who have been socially and vocationally disabled by mental illness can be helped to achieve or regain the confidence and skills necessary to lead productive and satisfying lives. Includes new vegetable gardening program.
Palliative Care Fund
Supports programming, service and equipment costs related to Palliative Care. Also provides charitable assistance with travel, nutrition and supplies for Palliative patients in need, and comfort for families while at the CRHCC.
Youth Mental Health & Addictions Fund
Supports programming, respite, self-esteem initiatives, crisis services, group programs and other service costs related to the health of children and adolescents in Cumberland through Mental Health and Addictions.
