Established in 1970, the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic is a program of the University of Maine School of Law providing free legal aid to low-income individuals in Maine.

All legal representation is provided by third-year law students specially licensed under court rules to practice law under the supervision of the Clinic's faculty. The Clinic's programs include: General Practice Clinic; Juvenile Justice Clinic; Prisoner Assistance Clinic; Refugee and Human Rights Clinic; Summer Intern Program; and Protection from Abuse program.
The Clinic’s mission is two-fold: educating law students through an intense, high-quality clinical and mentoring experience while providing pro bono legal services to indigent Maine citizens.
