Cumberland Security Bank was chartered in 1909 under the name of First State Bank of Eubank. In 1972, Clellan Prewitt purchased controlling interest in the bank from Marvin Johnson. Mr. Prewitt also owned controlling interest in Bank of Somerset, which he chartered in 1970. In 1985, a decision was made to merge the two banks to form Cumberland Security Bank with four locations to serve Pulaski County. A twenty thousand square foot facility was constructed in downtown Somerset in 1998 to serve as the bank’s new main office and position it to grow with Somerset and Pulaski County.
Ownership changed in September of 2002 to brothers Tony and Doug Wilburn, who were born and raised in Pulaski County and started their first bank accounts with the First State Bank. They also got their first business loan from Bank of Somerset and currently own several successful companies. Under their leadership, the bank continues to position itself for the future.
