Mark Burd, (former owner of Marks Marine Aquarium and The Aquarium Store) founded this new custom aquarium consulting, sales and service company.
A thirty year career in a combination of retail sales and service and custom work has been the inspiration for this company. Mark Burd began his career at Christoper's Pets in Baton Rouge in 1986. The 80's and 90's were a very explosive time for the aquarium industry. As new knowledge and technoogy entered the US market, saltwater fish and reef aquariums were a boom market. At the time very little specialized equipment or chemical supplements were available over the counter. Mark and Christopher were researching and making most of the equipment and products necessary to have a successful reef aquarium. As the market grew products became more available so a retail store was more than enough to keep Mark busy. In 1989 Mark opened and operated Mark;s Marin Aquarium. I was Louisiana's first saltwater only superstore.in 2010 The Aquarium Store was created to better serve freshwater customers. Like so many industries profit started to take the place of quality. The need to get back to custom built products once again became more necessary. a Decision was made in 2014 to sell the retail side of the business to cater to the clients looking for the very best in Custom aquariums, cabinets, lighting and filtration systems.
