Established in 1896, as the Spearfish National Fish Hatchery, to propagate, stock, and establish trout populations in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming. Renamed D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery and Archives in the early 1980's, the facility is still dedicated to fish culture and resource management today.
The Booth Society, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit, citizen-based group dedicated to promoting, preserving, and enhancing the educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities at D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery and Archives —in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service—for the benefit and enjoyment of the public.
