While playing a nice leisurely round of golf at what we thought was a pleasant family establishment, my friends and I were ACCOSTED by the staff several times. Having left Miami some years ago, my friends and I elected for a round of golf at Country Club of Miami for some laughs, some good times, and some memories. Little did I know that half way through our round we would be treated as enemies of the state. For some context, we begun our round at approximately 3:30pm on a summer day thinking this would leave plenty of time to finish 18 holes. We came to find out that at 6pm, a full hour and 47 minutes before sunset, they would begin picking up flags and pressuring us to leave the facility. Nevertheless, we pressed forward with our round only to be VERBALLY ASSAULTED by an employee approximately 45 minutes later. This employee threatened physically violence and resorted to the use of sexual expletives to pressure us of the course at the 16th hole despite it still being more than bright enough to finish our round. Needless to say, my friends and I, all of whom came to blow off some much needed steam and reconnect, were dumbfounded and mortified. We left fearing for our physical well-being and will not be returning. I will be reaching out to the better business bureau BBB to report this ordeal.
The staff was extremely rude, other than the nice gentleman with Long hair helping with the golf carts and the needs on the course. There was a worker who was extremely rude and rushing us to get on with it because one party was waiting behind us while we were waiting for a party in front of us with no problem once so ever. Course was pretty but the staff was extremely terrible.
Eric Sump is the absolute worse manager on a golf course I’ve ever experienced. I have a great group of friends and still enjoyed ourself no matter how we were treated, I have never written a review negative or positive about anything in my life, I am no Karen. However this needs to be said. He was rude to us from the very beginning of check in then proceeded to check in with us on two separate occasions to let us know to hurry up, not politely at all. We were playing ready golf and had not held anyone up. Then asked us to divide our team in to two which didn’t make any sense. I would not recommend playing here at all as long as he is working still. The courses greens and fairways were below par.
Probably the single worst experience I’ve had at a Golf Course. For $40+ you would expect even the bare minimum of hospitality or friendliness, yet the Gentleman at the Pro Shop I believe he was the shop manager when asked a simple question about if they had any food pretty rudely told us to read the email for confirmation. Ok cool sorry for asking I guess. After that the course host gave us trouble about having 1 person in a Golf Cart alone, like we didn’t have the card in the front saying we could have 1 in a cart by himself IN A PARTY OF 3. But ok fine we were ready to start playing, except by the time you get to the first green you see they are probably the worst greens I have ever played on. I’m from Las Vegas in the desert and somehow the greens here are worse than any greens I have played in The middle of the Mojave Desert. I mean call me crazy but Florida seems like it has some easy acesss to water and yet somehow all of the greens are dead. The course was poorly maintained all the way around with the 9th hole sign hanging upside down and for $15 dollars this all probably would’ve been ok but stil frustrating but for $40 this was just a negative experience from start to finish The only positive experience from this Golf Course were the birds, there were some very cool birds hanging out in the murky trash filled water.
2:30 tee time, we were NEVER told that they needed the cart back by 5:15. Staff were very rude and non accommodating. Guess they’re just lazy and don’t want twilight tee times to be happy. I golf everyday and have never been so disappointed. Also, check my picture, is this an acceptable green?
Etiquette - on the scorecard, there are rules for the golfer to follow. I'm a golfer, so I know. However, why don't the people that work at the golf course follow the same Etiquette? I mean, mowing the fairways while golfer is on the course and not sweeping it, driving carts on the greens, watering the fairway while golfer is on it. The West Course has the potential to be great IF Country Club of Miami truly takes care of it. I was told about the horrible greens before I played got a discount, but mowing fairways and leaving cut grass is another problem. Having to wait for maintenance people who were parked on the greens during my approach is another problem.
Country Club is one of tue best golf courses in Miami because of the location, green grass, the restaurant bar and never full, owned by Miami-Dade County, is always clean, everyday they cut the grass, they trim the trees, always picking up the garbage from the course, best chicken wings in Miami, thats them, plenty of parking spaces. This is a classic old school golf course from late 60’s. It was a time when this course was ranking #1. Easy to get there from any expressway. One mile from 826, one mile from I-75. Publix, Walmart, BoA, Chase, wells Fargo and less than a mile. Has a lot of spots with shadows so you don’t get that heat and feels really cool under the tress.
Beautiful golf course... However some features of it is poorly maintained
Been playing there for years and don't recall it ever being in worse shape. I know not to play the West due to i'ts condition. Played the East and when I got to the first tee box and it had no grass. Oh boy! Fairways were mediocre at best and the greens were uneven, some were missing large areas of grass and were covered with green sand. Spoke to a greens keeper that was out on the 9th hole. He says it's all the rain we've been getting that's to blame. I say bull. More like poor maintenance. Saw another guy spraying for weeds on the fairway while driving cart and talking on the his cell phone. Couldn't get his attention to look up. He's probably still on the phone. Won't go back for a while. Not at $50. UPDATE 3-26-2023. No better. Fairways are all brown weeds. Nearly impossible to pitch from around the greens because of the strange weeds, no grass at all. Do they even water this course? Even at at $45, no way. Goodbye forever. Drop to one star.
This is a review mainly of the East Golf Course. I used to play here in the 90's when the course condition was top level. After it went downhill over the years, it seems to be working its way back. The greens are very good and very fast. The fairways are still a bit thin but overall the East is enjoyable. Staff are all very friendly and the carts are fine. I recommend it more for a practice round until the fairways fill in and then, because of the design, it should be a ready.
