The Daniel Meyers Fitness Center at Southern Oregon University
Built in 1991 and located beneath the Raider Stadium main grandstand, the spacious Daniel Meyer Fitness Center helps SOU student-athletes achieve personal health and fitness goals.
In 1999, a state-funded renovation and expansion project added a second floor above the existing facility, resulting in the doubling of floor space to 9,000 square-feet.
The first floor features power lifting equipment, including lifting platforms, squat racks, bench presses and stations for incline, decline and dumbbell lifts. Cardio and aerobic equipment such as stair climbers, treadmills, and exercise bikes, along with stationary and cable-pulley universal exercise equipment, are located upstairs.
In 2007-08, the SOU Raider Club spearheaded a $225,000 enhancement project that included the resurfacing of the entire facility with rubber flooring, replacement of all free weight racks, platforms, benches, bars, plates, and dumbbells, replacement of nearly all circuit training weight equipment, and the addition of new cardiovascular/aerobic training machines with a cardio theater system.
The facility received its name as a result of a bequest from the Albert Meyer Family in honor of their late son.
