Sushi, Japanese, Thai, Hibachi and Sake Lounge
DAO “the path to success” this upscale Asian eatery offers something for everyone with a playful menu full of Asian fusion. There are three semi-private tatami tables and a newly opened Hibachi room. In the newly opened hibachi room flames can be seen from one of the six teppanyaki grills. At one table the Hibachi chef tosses scallops into the mouths’ of awaiting guests. His playful and exciting cooking is met with pleasure and enthusiasm by all who watch. At another table, customers try the sake bomb. A shot of warm sake is placed on top of a glass of Sapporo beer, supported by a pair of chopsticks. The customers shout “sake bomb” before banging their fists on the table making the shot of sake fall into the glass.
Neighborhood families, couples on dates and other diners often come to the eatery's large, open dining room to sip on its Flirty Geisha martini, Super Mai Tai and other signature cocktails. Kick-start your meal with an oyster shooter or a plate full of addictive edamame, it will buy you some time while you check out the sushi options. DAO offers more than 50 types of sushi rolls -- including popular items such as the Dragon on Fire, Her Passion and White Sox Roll. DAO’s menu also features Asian themed dishes like Pad Si-Ewe and Mongolian Beef which are colorful and full of flavor. For desert try the Coppa 3 Chocolates, a delicious combination of silky dark, milk and white chocolate. “Many of our traditional dishes have been modified to appeal more to the American ardor”. Maki is available with cooked fish as well as raw. Sushi is made available with special creamy and spicy sauces to make the sushi not only more decorative but to give customers options and to mix up the flavors of fish.
“At DAO people are passionate about what they are eating because it’s authentic and so fresh. I make sure everyone is extremely happy. If something is not right, I will do whatever it takes to get them back as my guest. I enjoy getting feedback and responses but also confirmation on how successful DAO has been. I make sure that everyone is as happy as they can be coming here. This is not a job to me because I enjoy it so much”, said Joshua T. Schlesinger, General Manager.
The ambiance of our restaurant blends characteristics from the Eastern and Western cultures perfectly with a 6-foot tall Buddha in the entrance way, a dark wooden interior, along with a modern bar and Chouchin lanterns hanging from the ceiling add a whimsical touch.
