The Pay It Forward (PIF) Program is a federally funded grant opportunity which provides college students with funds to distribute to local nonprofit organizations in the Holland/Zeeland area.
Students of Davenport University are granted federal money annually to award and distribute to nonprofit organizations in the area according to criteria they have created.
The following criteria must be met by the nonprofit in order to qualify:
• Projects that will result in a substantial benefit to the community in areas such as community development, health, housing, environment, human services, culture, elderly or youth
• Projects that will assist an area of the community that is typically overlooked and/or not already being helped
• Organizations that will be able to maintain the project and changes this grant money goes towards in the long term to improve their efficiency
• Projects that will develop new, different services to assist the community while working with other, related organizations to be as productive as possible
• Projects whose plans address current and developing issues and needs throughout the community
We strive to assist local nonprofits in the area in becoming more sustainable and reaching their community goals. Additionally, we hope to attract corporate sponsorship from the area in order to reach more organizations in need.
