We take great pride in serving the families of northeast Missouri with compassion, understanding and excellent service.
The Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home is the oldest family owned funeral business in Adair County. The Davis Funeral Home had its beginning in 1912 and the Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel began in Adair County in 1972. Vern and Mary Playle purchased one-half interest in the Davis Funeral Home in 1975 and the remaining one-half interest in 1981, changing the name to Davis-Playle Funeral Home. In December, 2000 they purchased the Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel in Kirksville. The Davis-Playle Funeral Home in downtown Kirksville was sold and the funeral business was moved out to the Park View Chapel, changing the name of the funeral business to Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
The Dooley Funeral Home began in 1950 by Jack & Mauretta Dooley and Francis (Buck) White. In 1959 a new funeral home was built. In 1979 Mauretta married Ed West, a Licensed Funeral Director, and they continued to operate the funeral home until his death in 2008. Mauretta West continues to operate the funeral business along with Martha Ann Gehrke, a Licensed Funeral Director, who has been working for the Dooley Funeral Home since April, 1997.
Vern and Mary, along with their son, Kevin, built a new funeral home in Unionville, the Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home, and it had its beginning in December, 1997. Kevin Collins, a Licensed Funeral Director, joined the funeral home in January, 2003 and Anna Watt, a Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer joined the business August, 2005. The Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home is the only funeral home in Putnam County and is dedicated to serving the people with dignity and sensitivity.
Vern and Mary's son, Kevin, became a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1992 and joined the funeral business at that time. This is now a second generation owned funeral business.
We believe our duty to the families we serve goes far beyond caring for the deceased with dignity and sensitivity. We are always available to answer questions, or supply any information our families need day or night. Our biggest concern is helping people look to the future with hope and we're proud of the many long term relationships we've formed with our families over the years.
Our funeral homes are dedicated to excellent service to the people we serve.
