Great variety of Dayton related historical artifacts and presentations, highly recommend a stop. Displays range from the Wright Brothers cycling and aviation work including their 1905 flyer on display to impressive transportation displays with very old autos, trains, and wagons. The oldest standing house in Dayton is here too, along with old schoolhouse, mill, and other displays. I was very impressed and spent hours here. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable.
We toured the historical park as a group, with the help of a really affable and knowledgeable guide. The many things we learned about the Wright Brothers, their personalities, their numerous inventions and innovations, and their family made it a truly engaging experience. Highly recommend!Visited onWeekendWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$11–15
Our family love this place! We try to always go to the kid friendly events they host. This weekend it was the antique fire apparatus event. Highly recommend coming to Carillon Historical Park with a membership. Most events are free with membership you also get discounts at the stores.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$16–20
and a lot more history. Volunteers/ workers here are passionate about local history. Large space with different buildings and facilities I would recommend to allocate 3-4 hrs to see it all. Entry price was a little higher than what I think would be fair.
I had a lot of fun exploring the park and museums. It took about 2.5 hours to get through about half of the park. There's more buildings than I could fit in a single trip. Not sure if there's enough left to warrant a second trip but I'd recommend visiting once if you're in the area.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
A great experience overall with a lot of incredible history. I love that the goal is to build up Dayton and all the incredible people who played a part in its history. Admittedly I did come with a school so things are probably ran a little different when there are busloads of students coming at once. Employees are a little intense about who qualifies for train rides and carousel rides. Why not just include it in admission prices? I understand you need to make money but also the kids already paid to get in, is that dollar really making that big of a difference if the train is already running and so is the carousel?
I was able to view all the museums and exhibits however there is quite a lot to see in the other buildings outside. The huge tower is a 122 steps to climb. There is a right brother's bicycle shop, old train and trolley cars, and printing presses in the buildings behind the museum to name a few.
It was a lovely afternoon. Half our party had packed lunches and the others had planned to get food at the cafe. Because of the unexpected business there was a long wait for food and they allowed us to eat our food in the train car with the other half of our party. Of.course the kids got milkshakes. The grounds are nice and the Wright Museum is very interesting and educational.
Wonderful historical park, so many museums to explore. You can easily spend hours here
Wonderful place for all ages. You can tell the staff are passionate about what they do. Just about each building has a staff member there to explain stuff.
