De Kalb County Historical Society is an organization which works to preserve the history and educate the public regarding the history of De Kalb County IN.
On November 14, 1965 De Kalb County Historical Society met to save the Cedar Chapel covered bridge. They had some organizational meetings prior to this.
They had a 115 charter members and below is a list of some of the earliest members:

To promote historical study and research, especially in and of De Kalb County, Indiana and the state of Indiana.
To provide a forum in which lectures and publications relevant to the study of history may be presented.
To collect, preserve, or restore and make available to the public, historical publications, artifacts, relics, maps, charts, pictures and photographs, manuscripts, buildings, structures and all other items of historical significance.
