I moved into my beautiful studio apartment in early September, I was moving from Philadelphia for work and I was nervous about the daunting task of finding an affordable place close enough to my job downtown in River North. I feel so blessed and lucky to have found Dearborn Plaza apartments. I worked in real estate/helping people get apartments for over a year and I can tell you that this is a great find! The office employees are extremely kind and friendly, my tour was very easy to schedule and I was approved in a day or two. My apartment has an extremely competitive and fair rent price especially for the view, the unit had brand new floors/a very clean and updated bathroom/a great little kitchen with very clean and fully functional appliances when I moved in. My apartment also had two large closets so I have never felt short on storage. Management made moving in easy by scheduling you time with a freight elevator big enough to move anything I could imagine in, and the only utility you pay for is electricity! The building has a very unique and cute build, constructed in the 20s as a luxury hotel for women, the studios are about the size of a large extended stay hotel room. If you are looking for w quaint and updated space you have found it! Dearborn Plaza's maintenance team is second to none, they helped me hang all of my pictures and shelves/lamps within days of me moving in. Between my move-in and December they have replaced every window screen and cleaned the windows of every unit, as well as fully repainted the hallway trims. I hear them vacuuming the hallways on my floor and cleaning a few times every week which is great, they really care about the upkeep of the building and it shows. I haven't seen a single bug in my apartment or otherwise in the building which is great. I recently got a cat and they don't even charge a fee for having one, which is very kind-hearted compared to a lot of other units I've seen. I plan to live in this quiet and well kept space for years to come and I highly recommend this building if you are looking for a studio like I was.
I lived at Dearborn Plaza for a year and a half. I left with a heavy heart. The building staff and maintenance staff went above and beyond with their professionalism and quick response times. I enjoyed my time at this building and recommend it. The location is great and the in-house gym has all of the basics. The rooftop deck has some of my favorite views of Chicago. It’s an older building, but still a solid place to call home. I will miss it.
I lived here for 2 years and all I can say is I loved it so much. This was my first apartment in Chicago -- I had to move to another city for work. I loved my studio so much that I wished I could buy it and keep it forever. The view of the city was lovely. It was a cozy comfortable place. Management was always responsive and prompt. They were understanding and flexible -- really accommodating. I hardly had maintenance issues but when I did, I placed a ticket and the issues were taken care of almost the same day as the ticket placed. My neighbors were friendly too. Some became my friends. Some lived in their homes for 4+ years. Trash chutes on every floor. A small gym available and a rooftop. I hardly heard my neighbors and it was usually quiet in my studio. My new place -- the walls are paper thin. Sigh. I miss my studio everyday. It really felt like home. The service you receive here is top notch. When and if I do move back to Chicago, I will be looking into one bedrooms with another apartment building this management company owns!
I lived there for almost 10 years. The management of the building as well as the support team are class act! For 10 years I consistently received the best possible service from all of the staff working at the property. In addition to that, the building is maintained extremely well, it is always very clean, and they consistently are trying to renovate/improve the facilities. The building is in a prime location and the team goes above and beyond to make you feel safe. Highly recommend to anyone who is moving to the Gold Coast area! I had only positive experience there.
I just moved out after a three year stay at Dearborn and I'll miss it. The level of service of every employee there is top notch. Management is excellent to work with. I already miss the level of professionalism and eagerness to help and make other arrangements to suit my needs. The walls are solid and you can't hear anyone in other apartments. Very important for someone who works at home. I cannot speak to the comments anyone made before my stay or to anyone who never lived here. I can say with a high degree of certainty that this is definitely the best building to live in at that price point anywhere in the area.
Really kind manager. Simple, clean, cozy, compact building. After I read someone's review of it, I visited yesterday to tour before contract, It was great experience. If you wanna live in here, I recommend this. You don't have to loose your time by looking around other apartments. Come on in.
absolute worst management who repeatedly try to take more money from me. They double charged on rent sometimes - i’ve never heard of anyone else having to deal with this. Then they fail to charge your card you provided for them for rent for months at a time and then bill you a late fee when they’re the ones that were late? Absolutely do not live there! THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE FINANCIAL ADVANTAGE OF YOU.
I have lived at Dearborn North for about 2 1/2 years. Elena, the property manager, is excellent. She works hard to meet requests, maintain the beautiful historic building, and foster community among tenants. The staff are all very friendly. The facilities are all clean and well-kept. The one problem I felt is that the walls are very thin and so I often could hear too much of what my neighbors were doing.
I've lived in a studio here for three years and have no complaints. In fact, I'm about to move into a one-bedroom in the same building. Any issues I've had with my current apartment and there haven't been many were taken care of by the management the very next day. The building itself is old, but it is well-maintained and the rooms are spacious. Management has been nothing but friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this building to others who are looking to move to the area.
Both my wife and myself have lived at 200 n Dearborn over the last 6 years. We have moved out but have purchased a unit for both our kids to have a place to live while going to DePaul. Building management is superb, I consider ourselves lucky to have Tony managing. Overall the staff gets top ratings and improvements being made super fast elevators, upgrades to heating and lighting have been implemented along with overall cleanliness can’t be argued. As a realtor, I have the opportunity to visit many high rises downtown. I find this building to be a sleeping jewel in a great location. Not really sure what some of the other critiques are talking about. As I read that several were complaints about a female manager....there isn’t one in the building? As of Dec 8 2018, moving fee is $150 + a refundable $150 security deposit....by far the cheapest downtown. Building amenities, 24 hour door person, indoor pool, on sight Laundry, sun deck, work out facility and a great walking score, truly makes this a near perfect location to live. Personally in the 2 units I have lived in, I never heard a neighbor make a peep. You may on occasion if a unit is being upgraded or building mainanance working on something major can be heard...but only between 8-5pm m-f. I personally have rented to over 20 clients in this building with no complaints what so ever about noise or poor staff treatment. Overall this building has been a GREAT BANG FOR THE BUCK! JV
