Great place to learn and make things. Everyone be I met was very friendly and welcoming and genuinely excited themselves to be there. Great vibe. And they have a ton of awesome tools. I especially like they the have stuff for kids too. Lots of past projects are hanging around so there is no shortage of inspiration. There is an entire wall of old computers and electronics that you can use. I can say enough about it. Go if you have been!

This place is great! They have all kinds of equipment for making all kinds of things. There is also classes to teach you how to use the equipment safely.
I needed help with a small home project involving some minor woodwork, but was not exactly sure how to approach it. I was referred to Decatur Makers and sure enough upon the first visit was greeted warmly, given expert advice & even got the wood cut that was needed. This is a terrific organization, exactly what the community needs!
This space is wonderful. Bill gave my small group a tour of the different spaces: wood, metal, electronics, welding, and 3d printing. If you just want to try out different tools/hobbies but don't want to spend a fortune getting started this is the place for you. Go there, decipher your passion and dive in headfirst. They have extremely low cost/free classes where you keep what you make. They even have a website and you can just ask for advice on the different topics with archived answers.
Decatur Makers is a maker space open to the public with a really reasonable membership, offering classes, worker space, and instruction. Wonderful staff. My son has been going to Decatur Makers for years. Great community space! He's most interested in 3D printing.
