This was my first time ever going to a tailor in NYC. I’ve had this vintage Tripp corset that I haven’t been able to wear in years due to the zipper being broken on the back. Kai was able to easily fix the zipper and make the corset look brand new! Kai is super talented and replaced it with a durable zipper to prevent it from breaking again. Easy to book an appointment and my top was ready very fast. I’m finally able to wear one of my favorite tops again for the first time in years!Services: Clothing repairs
After my previous tailor went out of business, I had to quickly scramble to find a quality tailor at a reasonable price in NYC which I originally thought was near impossible in Manhattan. After reading some great reviews for Dejavu online, I was very eager to visit and give a few pairs of pants for hemming. Kai the tailor has a top level attention to detail and his charismatic personality made the session very enjoyable. He was very accommodating to my needs and addressed all of my questions with ease. The turnaround time for the pieces was just a few days and when I returned, I was very impressed with the service and quality of hemming. I have attached some photos here of the services. I will absolutely be back to Dejavu and am excited to bring more of my garments for tailoring. I was doing a quick Yelp & Google search for a tailor to hem 3 pairs of pants, and I found Dejavu Tailoring! I was initially very intrigued by the $5 basic hemming deal they always run, so I booked an appointment and headed uptown to the Wework that Kai's studio is located in. He's super nice & personable, and made me feel very comfortable the entire time. My pants needed a little more finesse than basic hemming, so they ended up being a bit more for more complex stitching, which is still very very good price-wise especially for Midtown! My stuff was ready less than a week later and the quality of the stitching was impeccable. Lines were super straight and neat, and the threads matched my clothes perfectly! I'd definitely come back to Kai to get more tailoring done and he also has really cool custom jackets if you're in the market for some really stylish leather cold-weather outerwear! Came here to get my birthday dress tailored. My dress was too big on the sides and after my tailoring I felt like it was custom made. The quality of the sowing it’s amazing, it looks like it was never touched. I can see my curves and my silhouette better. The Dejavu winter coats I tried on was amazing too. Winter jackets tend to be very baggy and almost all the same but this one has a such a unique look and it’s so different from any other one I’ve seen. The Wool and shearing made me feel super sophisticated which I think is a feeling that not a lot of coats give you.
Hands down; Kai provided the best alterations of my gown. This was the best experience of tailoring I’ve ever received. His meticulous attention to detail and understanding your desires are keen. I was expecting this to take a week and I received a call in two days that my gown was complete. Talk about quick!! I am thrilled and know I will look amazing for my best friend’s wedding!! Kai and his team offer great customer service. His coats are beautiful and his tailoring work is incredible. He works really well to make sure alterations are exactly what his customer wants and makes everyone feel like a super star.
Lovely tailor. I was looking for a quality tailor to work on my 2 nice leather pants. As a designer myself I’m quite picky with the actual fit and so glad I found the perfect guy who helped me iron out every little details. For 10 years, Dejavu Tailoring has been my go-to tailor! Their work is both speedy and impeccable. I trust them so much that I travel to them from Brooklyn for all my alternations. The last thing Kai just tailored for me was a pair of pants, getting them hemmed and the waist & seat tapered . They now fit me perfectly . Dejavu Tailoring consistently earns my loyalty for a reason, always delivering professional, very reasonably priced, top-notch results making your clothes fit perfectly.
I came to Kai with multiple pairs of dress and other pants that I use for law firm interviews and other business events. Getting an appointment was extremely easy, he is super personable and does great quality work. The turnaround time was quick, within a few days. And was equally flexible in getting me back in for pickup and offered any needed adjustments included with my original cost none needed!! Kai helped me with both hemming and the seat/waist of the pants. You can’t even see where the work was done, it looks flawless!
Kai was fantastic, he did a beautiful job on the alterations for the bridesmaid dress I have to wear for my friends wedding. It was 2-3 sizes too big and 3 layers of fabric. His alterations were completed 2 days earlier than he projected and the dress fits exactly as we agreed. I can enjoy the event without worrying about my dress being too tight or too loose. I definitely recommend visiting for your alterations. He also makes beautiful coats!
