DeKalb County Lake (aka Sylvania Lake)
DeKalb County Lake is 120-acre man made lake located on Sand Mountain 1 mile north of Sylvania, Alabama. It opens at sunrise, closes at sunset. (Closed Wednesdays).
DeKalb Lake is a great place to fish from the bank or boat. We have 2 piers (located at each end of the lake), along with several land piers. We stock it yearly with bream, catfish, crappie and bass. A valid AL State fishing license is required from age 16 to age 65. Daily fishing permit is $3. Launch permit $3. No gasoline motors allowed, trolling motors only. Daily Boat rentals $5, trolling motor and other items also for rent. Bait available.
Pavilions cost $10 to reserve. Picnic tables and grills around lake are free.
You can hike our paths around the lake or you can walk along the paved road which follows the bank. If you walk or bike starting at the country store to the far pier and back, it is about 3 miles round trip.
We also have a newly renovated campground with water and power (no dump station). $15.00 per night; bathrooms located at campground; shower located in Concession Building. We have a security gate that is locked each night.
