Del Mar cafe is a family owned/operated restaurant, and was exactly what I was looking for. The decor is dated, the staff is friendly, and the food is what I image as a white woman from the northeast home cooked Mexican comfort food should be. The food was delicious, and I was a bit shocked I cleaned my plates!
Atmosphere doesn't feel like a typical restaurant, feels more like you're visiting extended family and they are serving you some homemade food. Friendly staff, while the burrito different than you'd get at a typical Mexican food place its pretty good.
A very low-key, quality little restaurant. Easy to miss on the radar. Looks very nondescript, but be prepared for a wonderful food experience. Family owned and friendly. The food will blow you away. The mole sauce is silky and full of flavor. Their cooking skills go back many, many years. The rice is so beautifully done, soft and full of such great flavor. If you're looking for something fancy in the interior, bear in mind it's not the look of the little restaurant, it's the QUALITY of food. Step back in time to have a sweet experience. Penny G. P.S. To the woman who plagiarized my review "Twice", can't you be more original? Plagiarizing is against the law. This was pointed out to me by an attorney. Taking others words and passing them off as one's own!!! Be more original in your verbiage and post a sincere, original thought not someone else's.
Authentic Mexican food. Freshly made chips and salsa. Attentive staff and great cook. Love my Sunday morning breakfast at Del Mar Cafe. It's a tradition.
Warm, cosy, friendly atmosphere that draws a local crowd and has delicious food. Probably the best taco de lengua that I’ve ever had : savoury, tender and free of greasiness. Same for the taco de carne deshebrada. Crispy and tender tortilla chips served with a salty, garlicky salsa on the house. We also loved that the tostada con carne deshebrada shredded meat had real slices of onion and torn lettuce. Brava, señora. Also, there’s a disk-jukebox offering various styles of Mexican music. A delightful little restaurant.
I love everything about this place. The building, the employees, and oh my God the food. I practically drink their green salsa hahaha. If you haven't been here yet...I strongly suggest you do. I only get tacos, but plan to explore more of the menu
This a family-owned Mexican restaurant with authentic food and the cooks are either mamacita or her oldest daughter. Sometimes second daughter cooks as well and she's real good. Most of the time though #2 is waiting tables. Chorizo con huevos and cocido are my favorites but I also like the chili verde. Jamaica is home-made and flavorful. It's not from the package. Dining room authentic and old and tv usually has a Spanish station showing old Mexican films. I feel at home there.
Good food! Hole in the wall type place and one wouldn't notice it from the street. Tacos were delish and my wife enjoyed the chile relleno. Just go inside and enjoy the goodness!
There food is excellent always made to order. Really good home made food, if it's not on the menu they will try to make it for you. Just ask
Walking in i didnt expect much but this is by far the best food ive had since i moved to san gabriel. Amazing. Good price. They have a dollar tacos !! Definetly worth the trip.
