DSU has a long and proud history as one of America’s Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs), and offers an education that blends those long-standing traditions with a
growing community that values diversity.
Founded in 1891, DSU embraces its heritage as one of the country’s first land-grant educational
institutions, rooted in agriculture and education. Our current population includes a 67 percent
African-American enrollment and an increasing number of Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian and
international students.
With a changing world comes a changing curriculum, and DSU prepares its students for global challenges and beyond. We are a melting pot for education, and after graduation—wherever life takes them—our students are truly “making their mark on the world.”
With a focus on cutting-edge research, technology and business, we are at the vanguard of the region’s higher education community. We offer 53 undergraduate degree options, 25 master’s degree programs and a number of doctoral degree programs.
