DeLeetree's Bakery is a home kitchen operating under the 'Cottage Law', we specialize in porch markets with a rotating menu three days a week!
DeLeetree's Bakery has been an 'official' operation as 'home kitchen' bakery since 2010. We started small, doing a few orders a month or a wedding for a family friend. DeLeetree's stands for "Deanna, Lisa, Teresa"- the Loeb sisters. DeLeetree's Bakery was literally a dream that my mom had one night, the next day when she woke up she said "one day I am going to have a bakery, and run it with my sisters." A few years later my mom started taking small orders from family, friends and the teachers in the Grand Ledge school district. (If you have been a teacher for Grand Ledge at any time in the past 25 years you'd be able to attest that if one of the Malloy girls appeared on your class list it meant getting her signature sugar cookies for holiday parties and birthday treats, a tray would even appear now and then in the teacher's lounge for no reason at all other than the fact that it was a Tuesday.) In just a few short months, my Aunt Deanna was starting to help my mom with orders as they became weekly instead of monthly. She is an amazing cake decorator (her first cakes were Lisa and Teresa's Wedding cakes-Deanna was a 9th grader when she made them, and they rivaled the cakes that you could find at Roma Bakery back in the day.) When I returned home to Michigan from Texas, I joined the bakery. The word was starting to spread and the popularity for the amazing cookies and cakes my mom and aunt had been making was starting to take on a life of it's own. I took over the management aspects of the bakery-advertising, orders and the schedule became my baby. We also took on the challenge of creating a custom menu that includes over 1,000 cookie cutter shapes, 30+ gourmet cupcake flavors, caramels, cake pops and dozens of other specialty items. Our recipes are largely taken from my Grandma Loebs cookbook, she taught us all to bake and we firmly attribute our product and work ethic to her. As business grew so did the 'staff' at the bakery. My Aunt Teresa became a crucial resource for helping us when we were 'busy' or if we have large order weekends (multiple weddings, graduation season, high volume market, the holidays ect.) She is also responsible for helping us expand our customer base and faithfully buys us our special decorator sugars from a Amish Farmer's Market in Pennsylvania. After the holiday's last year it became obvious that we were going to need an additional 'baker', so my sister Ashley joined the team. You also may meet my sister's Abbey and Allison during the 'Wedding/Graduation/Farmer's Market Season.' Today, we happily serve a large and diverse customer base, with an average of 45-50 custom orders each week, and a "home market" at the bakery most Saturday's during the Farmer's Market Season. Over the years we have grown to pride ourselves on being able to serve quality, affordable and one of a kind treats for special events, parties and gatherings. My dream and goal for DeLeetree's Bakery future is to open a storefront downtown Grand Ledge. We are so blessed to have this opportunity and have the most supportive customers, family and friends in the world!
