What we believe:
• Fundamental movement and physical literacy skills are an integral component of a person’s growth and development.
• Gymnastics develops both basic and advanced movement skills that form the core of sport and activity in general. Gymnastics is a springboard to all other sports.
• The activity of gymnastics should be fun and accessible to participants of all ages and abilities.
• Children can experience success, gain an increased sense of self-esteem, learn the importance of determination and perseverance, discover how to set and achieve goals, and develop positive life skills through the activity of gymnastics.
Delta Gymnastics Society provides formal education of gymnastics as a foundation of physical literacy. The relationship between cognitive and physical development is well documented and essential to the development of a well rounded individual. Just as language is the foundation of knowledge, so too is gymnastics the foundation of physical literacy.
