If you’re going to have a cutoff time to accept checked bags, that should be communicated ahead of time. Furthermore, if you have a plane scheduled to leave, you should have staff available to help people get checked in and onto the plane until the wheels go up. Love having to pay to ship a suitcase because the airport refused to take it because it was “late.” And then they delayed the plane anyway.
Quaint, western frontier feeling mini regional airport. Such a fun experience that harkens back to a simpler, slower, more patient time period.
After the experience my boyfriend went through today, along with 80 other people, cancelling their flight because of a tire issue , taking 5-7 hours to get it fixed… then not even getting it fixed, not helping ANYone get to where they need to go, people missing connection flights left and right and all they kept mentioning was shuttles … that majority of the people missed because they don’t know how to do their job . Everyone single one of their jobs should feel at risk after today .
If you leave your car For 2 minutes to go help your friend with their luggage you're gonna get a ticket For responding and explaining the situation I'm amending my Review to 5 stars! Also for the absolutely gorgeous new photo they have on the sign. Beautiful photo, good job
This is a small airport and as such seems to be a little short handed. Very unclear why our flight was delayed. Also dress warm in the winter no jetways at this little airport. Don’t plan on eating here not much to choose from beyond vending machines.
We’ve had two great experiences coming to and from Steamboat in the past two years. Every experience has been extremely smooth with quick and easy check in & boarding. Decent public wifi but be aware of booking a shuttle or transportation to town beforehand. Will be back soon!
Small airport with a very nice staff. Airport is clean and has a few food options.
Skipping the drive from Denver and hopping straight to the snow sounds good in practice but in real life is just way too many problems. I’m really not sure how this airport has 4.4 stars considering it’s such a mess. There is. MASSIVE issue with transportation here all year round where once you land it’s nearly impossible to get out and your stuck in the airport for hours with no rental cars even if you have a reservation, no taxis or Ubers and only 2 grouchy shuttle companies that aren’t worth their salt, overpriced and make you wait HOURS to get out. Unless you live in steamboat and parking ur car at airport or have an absolutely sure ride picking you up, just do the 3 hour drive from Denver to steamboat I guarantee you it’s faster. Otherwise you’re at the mercy of these extortionate shuttle companies. Plus the airport is about 1 hour from the ski slopes so it’s not even that close, and the airport is much more vulnerable to inclement whether which isn’t airports fault but worth mentioning you’re really better off just driving from Denver . Also airport is lacking a jetway so you get totally soaked in rain or snow walking to the building. Between delays, snow, lack of transport, and long distance to ski area you won’t save time from just hopping in the rental from Denver
If you want to feel like a total rock star, fly into HDN with all the snow-elites heading to Steamboat's world-class powder. HDN is a convenient gem in the rockies - if you don't fly in, you've got a long, gnarley drive on your hands, and the passes can be totally sketch in the winter. Or if you fly into Denver to save a little $, you'll lose it right away and have a 4-hour, bumpy shuttle ride - you'll wish you'd coughed up the additional coin to fly.
Can be pretty rude here. We have come within 1 hr of our flight time and we're not able to check luggage, forced to take through as carry-on and loosing shampoo, toiletries and knives that can't go through security. Get here early but not too early because they won't be open...and be nice.
