The Dental Assisting National Board, Inc. (DANB) is recognized by the American Dental Association as the national certification board for dental assistants.
DANB’s mission is to promote the public good by providing credentialing services to the dental community. We accomplish and measure the success of this mission through the creation of valid dental assisting exams, recertification requirement integrity, and valuable, visible and accessible DANB exams, certificates and certifications.
DANB offers five national certifications:
-National Entry Level Dental Assistant (NELDA)
-Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
-Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA)
-Certified Preventive Functions Dental Assistant (CPFDA)
-Certified Restorative Functions Dental Assistant (CRFDA)
DANB also offers certificates of knowledge-based compentecy in these areas:

-Coronal Polish (CP)
-Sealants (SE)
