The Depew Police Department serves the Village of Depew, a community of 15,303 residents (as of the 2010 census). The Village of Depew is a suburb approximately 10 miles from the City of Buffalo, NY.

The Department currently has 29 sworn officers and 9 civilian employees. The current Chief of Police is Stan Carwile. The current Police Captain is Ken Kaczmarek.

The uniformed Patrol Divison is the most recognized division in the Police Department. These officers operate patrol vehicles, and are responsible for many duties within the Village, including keeping the peace, patrol of the village, enforcement of the New York State Penal Law and the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, along with emergency mitigation through investigation and enforcement.

In addition to the uniformed Patrol Division, the Depew Police Department has several specialized units, including a Detective Bureau, Accident Investigation Unit, Fire Investigation Unit and a School Resource Officer program.

The Depew Police Department also has a 24-hour communications center that is staffed by Public Safety Dispatchers (PSD's). These dispatchers serve as the first line of communication for residents during an emergency. PSD's are responsible for notifying Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Service units to respond to emergencies. PSD's use state-of-the-art Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) systems in order to receive and process 9-1-1 calls for emergencies. It is the responsiblity of PSD's to maintain contact and status of all police and fire units on assignment, and process patrol requests for vehicle registration information, warrant checks, and criminal history checks. Public Safety Dispatchers also process non-emergency calls for assistance.
