Des Plaines Hobbies is an old fashioned hobby shop with an emphasis on Model Railroading. Don't let the "emphasis on Model Railroading" mislead you. We do a great job on architectural building and modeling supplies as well as rockets, entry level R/C, plastics, tools, airbrushes and more.
It was started 28 years ago when you could purchase tubes of glue and sticks of balsa wood. That is still true today, although we've added a few items. About 15 years ago we ventured into light manufacturing and are also home to Centralia Car Shops, S Scale America and O Scale America lines of kits, decals and parts. We brashly advertised ourselves as "Probably the best little Hobby Shop in Chicagoland" in early advertising and it still feels true today. Please give us a try and see for yourself.
