Dirt/gravel road once off the pavement, for a small distance. Beautiful view of the Alamogordo, Tularosa basin / White sands area. Decent sized loop walk around the perimeter of the park. Dog-friendliness: Wide pathway. Ok for dogs, but limited shade. Picnic area: Covered picnic area.
I used to love this trail, but the last few times I was on it, it had a lot of dog droppings along the paved walking path. You had to look down the entire time instead of enjoying the desert views Dog-friendliness: Lots of spiny desert foliage. No shade. However, there are plenty of bags for you to pick up your dog's waste. Dogs on leashes are welcome
Can't give it much of a rating, but we just went out to look at the view. Gravel road leads out to the parking lot, also gravel. There's a ramp to a portico, but I was wearing flip-flops and didn't even explore that! Looks like a good place to go hiking, but wear sturdy boots and bring a canteen. Stunning views!
Nice little hike, all paved and there's benches along the way for breaks if needed. Path is about 1¼ miles give or take. A little pavilion about halfway through with picnic tables and grills Restrooms: Porta potty at the beginning of the hiking path Dog-friendliness: Poop bag stations at beginning and end of hiking path, use them please Picnic area: Covered picnic area with built in grills
Great place to go for a walk or bike ride. Beautiful views of Alamogordo from atop of the trail. Also, great hiking trails as well. Make sure to have a camera and water. Also, really nice place to check out the stars at night if you live close by or park outside the gates I noticed they never actually close the gates anymore, but it's posted the park is closed at sunset
Great hiking/jogging trail that was approximately 1 mile long with big changes in elevation. I wish there was a real toilet not a porta-potty and a few more people around so it didn't feel so deserted.
Nice local after work hike while in town on business. This was early March and the temperature was pleasant. I would avoid it in the summer. I lost the trail at one point but the route was otherwise straightforward.
Our soccer lady tigers team runs the foothills every morning, and it's really beautiful in the morning, and it's fun with all the twists and turns
Always a great spot to get just a bit away from it all.. and get back in time for your next meeting LOL
Very nice area for a walk. Clean, all paved trail, about 1.2 miles and a small picnic area. Oh, and did I say beautiful scenery.
