Loved the little hike! Wasn't there long, but will definitely be stopping again when I'm in town.
Great wooded trails for walking. Don't go after a rain or in the spring, trails get muddy quick!
Love this park, but I wish there was a water fountain to fill dog water bowls more conveniently. You have to bring your own water bottle unless you fill bowls at the bathroom. I'd also be careful on the park benches because the back was coming apart on one of them. Most people and dogs are friendly, but there have been a few dogs that are clearly not meant to be brought to a dog park because of aggression, yet have come anyways. But all around, it's been a great park to come to with my puppy. He absolutely loves it and it's fun to watch all the dogs play together and tire themselves out.
This is a love set of loops through an old forest with very larger trees and rolling terrain. I highly recommend doing the orange loop. It's almost all shade, so it's a great little hike when it's hot outside. Playground: No playground Restrooms: Nice clean restrooms in the parking area. Dog-friendliness: There is a designated dog park as well as dog friendly on the trails. Picnic area: There is a picnic area.
A nice nature walk with several trails to choose from.
There are two parts to this park- the dog park and the trails. The dog park is a large fenced area where people can bring their dogs off-leash. The trails are walking trails where dog are required to be on a leash. People like to take their dogs off leash on these trails anyway, so be prepared for that possibility. I go to the dog park almost every day in the summer. You can read the news story about the 1 dog attack, which was a tragedy, but I believe is the exception and not the rule. You'll need to realize that if you want a place to socialize your dog off-leash for FREE, the risk of your dog being attacked is a risk you're going to have to take. Is it a large risk? No. But a risk. That being said, if you don't know how to have control over your dog while it's off leash, you should not take your dog into the park. I'm talking about both nice and aggressive dogs. Just because your dog is nice, doesn't mean it can't cause trouble or become a victim. Likewise, if you are attempting to socialize an adult dog for the first time, this is not the place. I feel like I shouldn't have to say that stuff but I will. In general, just be responsible with your dog. I never bring my dog into the park without her remote collar so I can correct or call her even when not directly beside her. I never allow my dog to bark at other dogs or get overly excitable. I never allow my dog to run up to the entrance while another dog is trying to come in. I'm constantly watching my dog and other dog's behavior and energy. I do this so I can keep my distance from the possible problem dogs. If I see a dog that is consistently being overly aggressive, we immediately leave. If my dog is consistently disobeying me, we leave.
Nice trails and dog park. Just beware of poison ivy that thickly lines some areas of the trails.
The dog park was not opened when we went but it looks very big. The trails are very nice and wide for the most part.
We love this dog park but owners need to be more diligent about picking up their dogs waste. Also Gizmo would like to know when the park is closing for the winter. Does anyone really know?
Pet owners could do a better job at cleaning up but other than that it is a nice walk.
