Dickinson Historical Society was formed tothe Dickinson and League City Railroad Depots, as well as educating the community about this history of the area.
The Dickinson Historical Society is a 501 B) (3) Tax-Exempt Organization, which was incorporated on April 20, 2000. The vision of the society is to be an active organization, which promotes community involvement in the preservation of the history of the North Galveston county area. The mission of the society is : to raise funds to restore and maintain the Historice Railroad Center, located at 218 FM 517 West and Kellner Road in Dickinson. It is the office of the Dickinson Historical Society, City of Dickinson Office of Museum and tourism. The Railroad Center also hosts the Dickinson Railroad Depot Museum, visitor center, gift shop and meeting facility for the community. visitors to the Railroad Center can view the League City Railroad Depot from their respective locations near the railroad tracs in the laste 1960"s to their present location off FM 517 West. The Weed N Wish Garden Club restored and cared for the Railroad Center for many years until in 1997 when the Club donated the Center to the City of Dickinson. As a results of the Garden Club's donation, the City of Dickinson assisted in forming a committee to preserve and protect the Historical Dickinson Railroad Center.
To educate the public about area history, to preserve historical artifacts of the area and to maintain the Dickinson Historic Railroad Center.
