I never envisioned myself leaving a review for a hospital before, but felt compelled to do so here. I visited Halloween weekend and let's just say it was a busy weekend. I had a complication from a surgery that was not at this hospital, but needed somewhere to go late. The waiting room situation here is not ideal. I don't think it's the hospital's fault. I think due to covid rules/regulations, you cannot have someone wait here for you. I do think the hospital could do better to publicize or make it known. Also, I do think the hospital should have some seating near the check-in desk where you fill out the forms. I was in crutches and so having to stand in that area to fill out my form was very challenging. All that said, it doesn't deter me from leaving 5 stars and I'll explain why. I waited a long time for care. 8-9 hours before I was fully helped and discharged. I was uncomfortable, but this wasn't the staff's fault. They were constantly dealing with trauma. The staff was magnificent. The gentleman I checked in with was exceptionally caring and helpful he helped make sure my wife was safe despite the rules and regulations and checked in on me even though he was finished with me. The nurses were all caring and spectacular. The radiologist was unbelievably professional and a master at what he does. The doctors were fantastic too. Every employee I encountered was so good at what they do I was in awe. They somehow managed to keep their cool flawlessly despite dealing with tough situation after tough situation. Truly, it's an impressive outfit here. It was unfortunate that I had to wait as long as I did, but clearly, others needed help more than I did first and that was fine by me. I felt fortunate overall. When I did speak with staff, they were always apologetic about the long wait times. This is truly a very professional outfit top to bottom and should be commended. I'm hoping I don't have to come back, but if I did, I certainly wouldn't hesitate.
I 100% recommend giving birth in this hospital! I gave birth to my son on 12/26/22. The midwives, nurses, and doctor were all so sweet and caring. My water broke for more than 24 hours and I had to make VERY difficult decisions in regards to labor. The midwives made sure to explain all my options thoroughly and made me feel 100% comfortable the entire time. During labor, they were there with me and very sweet and gently gave me words of encouragement the entire time. In the postpartum department, all the nurses took great care of my son and I during our stay. I especially want to thank Nicole who works in the postpartum department. I was alone the entire time I was there and during her shifts, she was the absolute sweetest and always made sure I was ok. She made me feel safe and comfortable. I hope she sees this and knows how grateful I am to have been under her care! Thank you so much Nicole and all the staff I met. :
One of the Security guards overnight in the ER was so rude. Lied to our faces our family member was not there. She died. You don’t have to be insensitive. The first guard was nice but then as he was helping there was a swap. He kept asking what her name was and names of relatives. We were notified at 1 am of her death. Imagine traveling far to get rude guard who then told us you have to leave and wait outside. I hope he doesn’t experience death of someone he related to in a horrific accident.
My girlfriend was in labor for our first child and I would not recommend this hospital at all. Everything was fine up until my girlfriend was actually admitted into a room to give labor in. The first nurse that was attending us was really nice and helpful to us answering all our questions respectfully. She helped ease the nervousness for both my girlfriend and me. It wasn’t until after they switched shifts for the night is when it all went bad. From then on all the nurses were very rude and didn’t seem to have any care for my girlfriends pains. Sometimes they would come in and just start giving medications to her without even explaining what they’re for and what they’re gonna do. When I did ask the doctors and nurses they looked annoyed when we asked like if we’re supposed to know every medication they’re giving her already. I know they see women in labor everyday but there are soon to be mothers and fathers who are new to having a child in their lives so it can be very scary having to make sure everything comes out okay for the mother and child. Furthermore, there was nurse in particular who was the rudest one. She saw I was worried about my daughters heart rate being so high up and all she told me was that they have it handled. I got so frustrated and worried I had to tell her to not come back in our room. She was so rude I don’t even think she should be on that floor anymore if she doesn’t know how to calm and help a new father. To top it off, my girlfriend was insisting that our daughter was ready to come out but the nurses just kept going off a machine to let them know when our daughter was going to be born. You would think the actual mother would be able to feel and tell if her baby is ready to be born vs a machine telling you. The nurses kept ignoring us and made us wait 3 hours before one of them actually came in to check. Luckily our daughter was okay and still healthy. The doctors helping with the actual labor were very helpful. They made it very easy and made sure we were all comfortable. In my opinion, I would not recommend this hospital for labors. If you can admit into another hospital, DO IT. This is not the place to have a baby where the nurses who check on you have no care in the world and look very frustrated whenever you ask a question or just come into your room and not even acknowledge you and say what medication they’re giving you.
I was there with my 6 year old for a high fever. Also been there so many times, doctor & nurses are very nice. They were very patient with my 6 year old since she doesn't cooperate. One of the nurses Heather even sat down on the floor to do the culture strep throat mean while she was trying to calm her down. She was so patient and helpful as good as the rest of the nurses and doctors that I wasn't able to get all of their names. I came out satisfied with their great job
I delivered my first baby at this hospital. It was an awesome experience. In all stages, the staff was friendly and helpful. It was a natural birth. However, it was 27 hours, and no one didn't push me for a c-section, so I was so happy with natural birth. I totally recommend this hospital for delivery.
Since July 31, 1974, I have been a Patient of California aka Dignity Hospital! All 3 Sons were born in California hospital! On September 1, 2022, Dr. Marc Girsky requested I immediately go to ER for chest pains and left arm numbness. Upon entering ER, I was greeted by a rude Security Guard that refused to understand I have a pacemaker and will not go through a metal detector. Later, a Clerk refused to understand July 4,1955 is my birthday and a holiday. Clerk stated I refused to give her correct birthday. Clerk asked me to leave the chair and called Security on me! I informed Security I was not moving. Immediately, I called my Doctor to hurriedly come downstairs. I was given a bed and pain medication . Later, admitted to the hospital for heart surgery! California aka Dignity, NO Patient should experience what I experienced. Security Guards and Clerks should be updated educated!
I recently gave birth at this hospital to my first child. I was in prayer that I would choose the best fit for me and my family. I wanted a hospital that was clean, that had a staff that had the best interest for me and my family and would take great care of us. California hospital exceeded my expectations and gave me everything I prayed for. I dealt with multiple nurses due to shift changes etc and I hate that I don’t remember everyone’s name because I would list them all but everyone was truly amazing. Dr. Pickett filled in for my dr and delivered my son he was nothing short of amazing. I had to make sure I left a good review because I remember researching hospitals asking family and friends about referrals and suggestions. If you have a option to deliver here based off my experience I would highly suggest you choose this hospital you will not be disappointed.
I would like to thank the nursing staff, especially Marie and Dr. Choi during my mother's stay prior to her passing. The Hospice Dept was so wonderful and professional taking care of my mother and my family. You all deserve a "Job Well Done!!" to you all. Your kindness and sympathy has meant the world to us all.
The staff on the 4th floor, same day surgery, were exceptional! I went in for a left collarbone fracture repair, a couple of days ago, and they were so attentive from when I arrived until I was discharged. They were very kind, caring, and kept me and my sister informed throughout the entire process! I cannot thank everyone enough for the care I received!!
