Dimock Early Head Start, Head Start, and School Readiness Programs
Our Early Head Start and Head Start Programs are funded to serve a total of 330 children and families living in the Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and Jamaica Plain neighborhoods of Boston. Our School Readiness program serves 87 children.
Dimock's Early Head Start center-based program serves 117 infants and toddlers, ages 4 months - 3 years, on the main campus of Dimock, located in the heart of Roxbury. Children attend year-round (49 weeks), five days a week, six to ten hours per day. To meet the needs of working families, Dimock's Head Start center-based program also operates year-round, five days per week from 7:30am to 5:30pm, with a "core" six hour Head Start day from 8:30am to 2:30 pm. Dimock currently operates three Head Start Centers - two on the main Dimock campus (Jackie Jenkins-Scott (JJS) and Abantwana) - serving a combined total of 94 children and one, serving 68 children, at St. Mary's Women and infant Center in Upham's Coner, Dorchester, MA.
Dimock's Early Head Start Home-Based program serves 51 expectant families and their children ages birth to three. Operating year-round, trained EHS Home-Based Sepcialists provide weekly home visits designed to ensure positive birth outcomes and optimal family functioning.
