District Five Schools of Spartanburg County is home to twelve highly successful, award-winning schools. Located in the center of a vibrant, rapidly growing international business community, we serve more than 8,000 students with a staff of nearly 1,100 employees. Covering approximately 113 square miles, the district includes the cities/municipalities of: Duncan, Lyman, Reidville, Moore, Startex, Wellford, and Greer. Due to manufacturing and industrial growth in all of these areas, District Five Schools have seen a steady enrollment increase over the last 20 years. Our mission is to offer opportunities and cultivate excellence in many areas of education. We seek to achieve this mission by presenting students with a wide array of meaningful choices while staffing our schools with the finest professionals and support personnel available.
During the 2014-15 school year, District Five experienced rising student achievement in all areas due to the hard work of our teachers and students. As a district, we increased our graduation rate, raised the percent of students meeting their MAP goals, increased our end of course and advanced placement scores, and saw an increase in our college entrance scores. The district’s emphasis on literacy will pay dividends of success for our students in all curricular areas.
