At Dixie Cakes, we specialize in beautiful custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies for any occasion. We create custom designs and scrumptious flavor combinations using local, seasonal and fresh ingredients. We welcome personal creativity however, we are highly talented and ready to work with you to create the perfectly designed custom cake for your occasion. We are a home grown business founded by Susan Mayfield and based out of Astoria, New York. We take pride in our business and enjoy treating our clients with true Southern Hospitality.
Dixie Cakes was founded in Astoria, New York by Susan Mayfield. Susan is a Southern native born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She enjoyed much of her childhood accompanying her mother and grandmother in the kitchen learning tricks and tools of the trade. She fell in love with and developed a deep passion for creativity in the kitchen however, she decided to follow another dream of hers, Aviation. Spending time in the air afforded her plenty of opportunity, but she still yearned to fill that creative void. There was still a passion for spending time in the kitchen, specifically within the artistry of cake. In 2013, Susan made a decision to follow her longtime dream and enroll at the International Culinary Center in New York City for a certification in Cake Technique and Design. She is now the proud owner of Dixie Cakes where she enjoys dreaming up and creating delicious custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies for her clients.
