We did very well getting licenses. The lady knew what we needed and we were thru with no problems. The queuing system is available on grandview dot org to get in line. You can enter your name, number. And the system updates your wait. You can also get a quick peek by entering your data, then stopping at the next screen. It shows the wait time for all dmv services. When you are read, then continue. Worked great.
Never thought I would give 5 stars to a dmv, but here we are. The staff is actually kind. I've always hated dealing with robotic like staff that are rude. I had to come back twice because I didn't have everything I needed, and both times I was treated with kindness and great customer service. I know this can be a redundant and tough job, so kudos to the staff for treating me like a person with needs :
I signed up online. I got text messages that said I was in the front of the line and hurry to a station while there were other people seated at each window. In between people being called, I walked up to the representative at the window, who would not respond to my questions about the text messages I received. I had to wait for 40 minutes before I figured out on my own that I had been removed from the que and had to resubmit my information.This is poor customer service. I showed that I had registered on my phone and the wait should have been prevented with support.
Too slow ancient ways of doing business.. this is a reason not to move to the KCMO area. In other more modern states you can renew your ID online you can tag your car at the grocery store and not have to take an entire day to stand in these old lines.
I cannot rate the actual experience as I was closed out from the sign-in kiosk. Apparently, although this is one of 3 DMVs in the KC area that states it’s open Saturday, they each have their own rules and quirks for what counts as OPEN ‍. Yes, I visited all 3 today Although I arrived, August 5, 2023 9:30a.m., their line was full for the day; I couldn’t sign in further than my name. Since this is in Grandview City Hall, I inquired at another nearby window with a PERSON. She was helpful, so 5 stars for her. It would help if DMVs would update their sites/resources to diminish confusion for those who venture out. I’m posting as a service to help diminish frustration for other people. Oh, that I could leave a -5 review! I'm reading all these 5 reviews thinking, "These people have to be getting paid to leave these." Everyone in there today, including myself, were sighing heavily from frustration. After a two-day, 5-hour-long process, I get to the window with ALL my documentation and the guy takes 20 minutes to finish my stuff!! He's texting on his phone throughout. 10 minutes in, "this is your sales tax total, are you prepared to pay that today?" "That's why I'm here!" Later, "It isn't as simple as just taking your money." "Obviously!" How do they get anything done? It's insane!
Literally the rudest DMV ever. Was told I could not get registered for a reason that made no sense. Asked for a further explanation so it made sense and the only response I got was the same rude statement everytime i opened my mouth. Lady didn't know anything and had to ask someone the whole time a question. Love seeing my tax dollars go to such great use. Last I checked you are supposed to provide a service in atleast a professional way and not a way a teenager who had no maners would speak to someone. Great job Grandview for such a outstanding DMV and employees working there.
The best DMV I’ve been to— I put myself on the waitlist and the process of getting in and out was so smooth. I was really nervous about registering my first car but the staff were kind and patient. Also, there’s a playground outside?! Definitely recommend.
Amazing service, info, kind and quick. Very polite and professional with every interaction! Best dmv i've been to. Even with errors in your paperwork they will get you the right forms and information the FIRST time to resolve any issue you may run into.
Checking in before waiting is very convenient. Received text letting me know when I was next was great. Total wait time only about 17min. It was a breeze, coming from how we use to go through the process.
