~Don Bosco Prep ~ Founded 1915~Home of the Ironmen
Don Bosco Prep, founded in 1915, is a private, Catholic college preparatory high school for young men, grades 9 through 12. Dedicated to empowering young men, the school provides rigorous academics at the AP, honors and college prep levels, and encourages participation in extracurricular activities, clubs and athletics.
Located on a 35-acre campus in Ramsey, Bergen County, New Jersey, the school's 850 students are accepted to the finest colleges and universities in the country and go on to make significant contributions to their families, congregations and communities.
Administered by the Salesians of St. John Bosco, a religious order of priests and brothers, Don Bosco Prep is solidly founded on Catholic philosophy. The school is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.
Don Bosco Preparatory High School is a Catholic and Salesian secondary school which, since 1915, has carried out the education and evangelization of young men. Conducted in the charism of St. John Bosco, who advocated that “education is a matter of the heart,” it strives to create a family spirit in an Oratory environment, so as to be a home that welcomes, a parish that evangelizes, a school that prepares for life, and a playground where friends can meet and enjoy themselves.
The preventive system of education – marked by reason, religion and kindness – is practiced by educators and students alike.
The four dimensions of our educative work are:
(1) the dimension of education to the faith, whereby we guide the young towards an encounter with Jesus Christ and the transformation of their lives in light of his gospel;
(2) the educational and cultural dimension, whereby we encounter the young where they are at, encourage the development of all their human resources and open them up to the meaning of life;
(3) the dimension of group and social experience, whereby the young grow in their sense of belonging and discover the Church as a communion of believers to which they adhere;
(4) the vocational dimension, whereby we accompany the young in discovering their vocation in view of a commitment to transforming the world according to God’s design.
The overall goal of Don Bosco Prep is that of St. John Bosco: to form “honorable citizens and good Christians”.
