The Don Roberts Beauty Schools have been in the business of exceptional cosmetology education since 1961. We are the only SPA SCHOOL in northwest Indiana.
Our Facility Hours are Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 7:30 pm; Friday & Saturday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.
The DR Beauty Schools are two separate private schools. The original school began in Calumet City Illinois in 1961. Mr. Roberts opened his first school because he was unable to find qualified employees for his salons. The Calumet City Campus was the first of six schools in Illinois and Indiana. He continues his ownership of the Valparaiso Campus/Don Roberts Beauty School and Janet Stemmer/Don Roberts School of Hair Design, a DR alumni, has owned the Schererville Campus since 1978.
Mr. Roberts, Mrs. (Babe) Roberts and Janet Stemmer continue to be active in the daily operation and administration of the schools. It is not unusual to find them in the classroom or student salon teaching and demonstrating to a group or individual student.
The DR Beauty Schools are very well established and offer exceptional opportunities. We have proven the test of time. All curriculums for the programs offered are continually evolving to meet the demands of the industry. We offer group and private education, both for the undergraduate and licensed professional.
Our graduates find immediate employment. Employment opportunities can be found in the salon/spa, behind the chair or treatment bed/table, in management, ownership and/or education. A few of the innovative job opportunities that have found our graduates are independent contractor positions, work in a mobile salon/spa and cruise line. Graduates of the DR Beauty Schools have entered the job market with above average skills and have no limitations when looking for entry level employment.
