The Doorway to Recovery is the best recovery community I've been a part of. Its Plymouth location is incredible. There are plenty of jobs. A bunch of in person AA meetings. The houses and apartments are clean and well kept. Most of all it's so safe and peaceful. I promise you will not regret making this your recovery home and community. Also the management gives us respect but have been at it long enough to know when you deserve it and when you don't to keep our recovery safe. I absolutely love it here
Doorway to recovery presents as a good option for sober-living, but is a nightmare to deal with. This company does not have a mission to help people stay sober, they use this pretense to make profits off of those who are suffering. They consistently change rent and fees after promising a consistent fee schedule. The director is constantly harassing individuals in the program and interfering with work and family obligations. He shares personal information with family members without permission in an attempt to coerce participants to stay in the program and continue paying exorbitant fees. I was personally told that I would be removed if I didn't leave work early to make a curfew after I had my work schedule approved by the director. This was directly following my payment of the program fees which had been increased without my knowledge in an attempt to take program fees and put another individual in my spot to collect fees from them as well. If you value your sobriety and financial wellbeing, AVOID Doorway to Recovery.
Have "house rules" that are never enforced. The common areas are filthy. Must supply everything on your own i.e., toilet paper, cleaning supplies, light bulbs, etc. Must attend the weekly house meeting even if you are supposed to work. House meeting was cancelled more times than we had them. I lost work because of this. It is an extremely expensive house yet when you are drug tested, they use the cheap tests. The tests just show what drugs are in your system. It does not show that the drugs are getting stronger or weaker. I would recommend these houses to no one.
The Doorway to Recovery program helped save my life. It gave me stablity and helped build a foundation for me to grow. They were kind and understanding to me and I now have 13 months clean and sober. I would recommend this program to anyone seeking help with an addiction.
Doorway to recovery. If anyone is thinking about moving in here please read this first. Although 3/4 housing can be very beneficial to someone in recovery. I would suggest looking for someplace other than doorway. The owner Mark is an egomaniacal control freak. He does whatever he wants with no explanation or reason. His moods can change from day to day. And evrytevery there is centered around getting money from you. He runs it almost like a dictator. And he doesn't care so much about your sobriety as much as your money. He doesn't have any idea what is going on in the houses. Except maybe the woman's. He seems to drive by those many times in a day. This doesn't stop him from changing the rules all the time to fit whatever mood he is in that day. He pushes his ideas and beliefs on everyone. And if you are not of a like mind then he can be very difficult to deal with. The bottom line is Mark cares about your money. He also seems to get a thrill out being able to control the lives sof others. I would seriously recommend finding another place. And MAKE SURE you Google "doorway to trouble" as channel 7 news did a little story on Doorway to recovery and Mark.
Mark Burchell and Claudette will not answer my phone calls. I placed 210 for a room in Plymouth made verbal agreements with both people also I’d move in on the 1st of Feb. They changed the date out of no where to the 7th I respectfully asked for my money back stating I could no longer wait and we never agreed to this from the start. Claudette told me if the room became “unavailable” I would be fully reimbursed. Also very hard to get in touch with both mark and Claudette. As a program for recovery it is very poor support felt from the conversation with any staff at this business.
Mark, the owner of these houses is insane. Keep your loved ones away if you can
Good introduction to the recovery community before hitting rock bottom. 12 step meetings is where its at and much easier on the O'l pocket book.
