Unique, functional and decorative pottery plus paintings of New England landscapes all created on the Isinglass Christmas Tree Farm located in Barrington, NH.
I was an art teacher for what seemed like my whole life and I must say it was a wonderful career.I taught at the Oyster River Middle school for all but the first two of my 36 years. My students were smart, enthusiastic and very creative. My basic goal as an art teacher was to help foster in all my students an inquisitive spirit and a willingness to experiment through the process of creating.I never realized, until now in hindsight, that that is exactly what they gave to me!
Now I'm retired and I'm working through that process everyday in my art studio!I was trained with a concentration in drawing and painting but now spend most of my time muddy with clay!My students use to almost jump out of their seats with the excitement of DOING clay and now I feel the same way!I do incorporate lots of painting techniques in the glazing and finishing of pieces but I usually try to follow the clay's lead in completing the piece.
I do continue to love the adventure of painting, getting on location to at least begin and then working from photos to finish.I have a display of paintings here for you to enjoy and I also set them up during the season at our Christmas tree farm here in Barrington. My pottery and paintings are displayed in the Christmas Barn which overlooks the field of balsam firs, and the combination of a cut your own tree and an art display is really quite lovely!
I do enjoy making those special pieces in pottery or painting so please contact me with those requests.I do participate in several local craft fairs, my favorite being Christmas in Strafford and I'm also open during the Christmas season,or any other time by appointment.
Thank you,
Beth Doran Iber
